No. Absolutely not. There is no comparing the two. I read Twilight. I read Anne Rice. Anne Rice's novels are breathtaking, epic, historically accurate, and with fully developed characters with real flaws and real love and all the things that make novels great, including also rich, and beautiful writing, use of words. The vampire thing was just a metaphor in them, but it was done heartbreakingly. It's been years since I've read Anne Rice and I still get nostalgic when I think of the characters and the books.

Twilight reeks of teenage filth and puppy love with the complete opposite of the things mentioned about Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles. Plus, the vampire concept in Twilight is extremely far from the "traditional" vampire, whereas Anne Rice in The Chronicles, has taken the myths into indepth use and explorance.

In a nutshell; Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles are an adult vampire serie, whereas Twilight is totally for teenagers and pre-teenagers. They can not be compared in any way.

This is a different user, but I think they are similar in the sense that Meyer ripped off alot of details from Anne Rice. Mind reading, drinking the blood of vampires, consiquences for making a vampire child, a group of vampires that are like royalty, etc. etc.
