In the book the giver what was the first memory that the old man gives to jonas ?
why do you think he chose this memory
because the person who gives Jonas the memories used to be the receiver of memory but since Jonas is the new receiver of memory, the old receiver of memory calls himself the giver because he GIVES the memories
In "The Giver," Jonas's first taste of real pain is when he accidentally injures his leg while sledding down a hill in the memory given to him by the Giver. He experiences the physical pain and the accompanying emotions for the first time.
Jonas reacts with shock and pain when the Giver gives him the memory of breaking a leg in sledding. He experiences the physical pain and fear associated with the memory, as it is a new and intense sensation for him. This memory helps him understand the concept of pain and injury more deeply.
After the memory of war, the Giver gives Jonas the memory of Christmas. It is a happy memory filled with warmth, love, and holiday festivities, in contrast to the pain and destruction of war.
The Giver gives memories to the main character, Jonas, to help him understand the truth about their society and the world outside. Through these memories, Jonas learns about love, pain, and the complexities of life that have been hidden from the community.

He feels much lighter. The Giver (former Receiver of Memory) holds so many memories. So many good, bad memories in all. With one memory dispersed from his soul, he feels much lighter. One less thing to hold in his brain.
The Giver's job is to transmit memories to Jonas.
The Giver gave Jonas the memory of war, specifically a scene where men were killing each other. This memory was intended to show Jonas the darker aspects of human nature and the consequences of conflict and violence.
The giver gives jonas a dream of him sitting in a war and bleeding and just wanting water.
The Giver transmits memories of wisdom, pain, joy, and adventure to help guide and prepare Jonas for his journey. These memories provide Jonas with knowledge and empathy to navigate the challenges he will face.
I'm only 13 so correct me if I'm wrong , but I think the reason that Lois Lowry called the book " The Giver" is because the old man who has all of the memories gives them to Jonas, making him the giver. The giver is an important character who teaches Jonas many things about life and gives him a lot of wisdom other than what is passed on though memories. He also helps Jonas escape with Gabe. all in all, my theory is that the author chose this title because of the significance this character has in the main character's (Jonas's) life.
