Why does tanith Lou in the Skulduggery books almost get killed in every book?
Hi!Now, it is Tanith Low, not Lou.Also Tanith almost dies in every book because in the original 1st draft of book one, Derek Landy does have an alternative ending where Tanith is not just injured by the White Cleaver, but is killed. After he took this to the editor/ publisher, they said that the book was fantastic, but that they would not publish it unless he changed the ending so that Tanith was not killed. At first Derek did not agree, but then he came to an agreement with the editor/ publisher that Tanith would not be killed but wounded almost fatally in every book. :-)

What is skulduggery pleasant mortal coil about?
Skulduggery and Valkyrie find out about an assasin named Tesseract wanting to kill Davina Marr. Valkyrie seals her name. She tells Skulduggery she is Darquesse. The Remnants get loose and search for Darquesse. They find her and possess her, Valkyrie turns into Darquesse briefly but is stooped after killing a possessed man. The Giant Soul Catcher is turned on and all but one Remnants are caught. The one that is free bonds with Tanith Low. At the end Skulduggery tries to arrest Tesseract but is stopped when an armoured Necromancer attacks Tesseract and talks only to Skulduggery, the Necromancer tells Skulduggery that it is going to kill Valkyrie and the other Necromancers. The armoured Necromancer is revealed to be Lord Vile. Skulduggery befriends Tesseract in the moments before his death, Tesseract tells him about how he will miss his cat when he is dead. He also asks Skulduggery if it was Lord Vile's Necromancey that brought him back to life but Skulduggery doesn't answer.

The character is re-animated skeleton, who battles forces of darkness and evil using magic and his detective skills. After the three original novels Landy is producing six more to be released beginning in 2010.---Skuldugerry Pleasant is a fictional character, a living skeleton brought back from the dead. He was a real person until he was killed in a Secret war, he was killed by the Adept called Nefarian Serpine.Nefarian killed him. By killing Skulduggery's wife and children, Neafarian had predicted that Skulduggery would not use magicin his rage and make a physical attack, so he left a dagger. Skulduggery picked up the dagger and realised it's handle had been poisoned, but it was too late.*When Skulduggery says "I'd never even suspect that the handle of the dagger I reached for was dipped in poison", he meant it metaphorically, because Serpine killed him with his red right hand.Nefarian left a dagger (metaphorically speaking). We don't know how this Exquisite trap of Serpine's worked, but we do know that some where along the line Serpine pointed at Skulduggery with his red right hand (agonising death basically) and after the detective was dead, Serpine put his body on a pike and burned it for all to see. After that all that was left was bones so Serpine had his bones collected and put in a bag and chucked in a river. It is possible that China Sorrows was keeping him tied to reality (making him 'watch' as he so put it) so he came back, and put himself back together. The head Skulduggery is wearing now is not even his -- he won it in a poker game. His real skull was stolen by some munchkin things when he was meditating. In book 4, Valkyrie manages to get his real skull back for him.---Valkyrie is the now 15 year old apprentice of Skulduggery Pleasant. Skulduggery is teaching her magic.
