In the books as you probably know Ashfur nearly murdered Jaypaw, Hollypaw and lionpaw (jayfeather, Hollyleaf, Lionblaze) and squirrelflight.
Knowing that Ashfur was going to tell the clans her story she Killed Ashfur.
But she still thought that Squirrelflight was a Horrible liar and hated her Like Ashfur did.
So she told the clans to make everyone else feel the same about her not real mother. But running away in shock and terror she died in the overflowing caves.
This just goes to show anger and hatred can change a cat/person forever.

Who killed Ashfur in Long Shadows?
Hollyleaf killed Ashfur. As you may remember, she was the one out of the three that constantly referred to the warrior code. After she found out that she was the daughter of Leafpool and Crowfeather, she was very frusterated that she was born out of something completely against the warrior code. The code that she had so carefully followed had let her down. So, she killed Ashfur, because Ashfur was going to tell every cat who Hollyleaf and her brother's parents really were.

Why does Ashfur try to kill Squirrleflight and her kits?
Ashfur tries to murder Squirrleflight, Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather because when Brambleclaw and Squirrleflight got in a fight Squirrleflight grew close to Ashfur. So when Squirrleflight and Brambleclaw make up and become mates Ashfur get furious. So when the clan believes Squirrleflight had Brambleclaw's kits. Ashfur blocks the only way out of camp when Squirrleflight and her kits are still in camp when there is a fire. Squirrleflight tells Ashfur that they aren't her kits but she doesn't tell whoes kits they are. In the book Sunrise Hollyleaf murders Ashfur before a gathering because he was going to announce that Hollyleaf and her littermates weren't Squirrleflight's kits. So when Leafpool tells Hollyleaf she knows that she killed Ashfur Hollyleaf runs away to the underground tunnels. they collapse on her and she died. Some people believe she is still alive. (Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather work out that Leafpool is their mother. While Jayfeather was dreaming StarClan came to him and gave him a crow feather. Jayfeather tells his littermates that Crowfeather from WindClan is their father. Hollyleaf announces at a gathering that Leafpool and Crowfeather are her real parents. Crowfeather gets furious with Leafpool and Leafpool backs down from her position as a medicine cat.)

It is confirmed in Sunrise that Hollyleaf killed Ashfur. Before she ran into the tunnels, Hollyleaf told Jayfeather and Lionblaze that she killed Ashfur. Also, when Leafpool was preparing Ashfur's body for vigil, she said she found tufts of Hollyleafs fur in his claws. NO! Even though Hollyleaf was angry and really going crazy because she had learned she was half WindClan and that her mother was Leafpool, she was not an evil cat. She killed Ashfur, but then she was not thinking clearly. She was probably ashamed that she was half-Clan and had a medicine cat mother, and that is why she killed Ashfur, because he was going to tell everyone the truth at the Gathering, and because she ran into the tunnels and probably died. Hollyleaf was mainly a good cat, and my fav cat in the power of three. She went to StarClan. I mean, what she did is practically nothing compared to Tigerstar, Brokenstar, Hawkfrost, and Darkstripe.
Why is Hollyleaf going to turn evil?
because of Ashfur FIRST OF ALL, SHE NEVER DID TURN EVIL! the warrior code meant everything to her, so she drove mad when she found out she was half-clan. she felt ashamed that she killed ashfur so she went into the tunnels...you know the rest. remember she might not be dead
Why did hollyleaf runaway from thunderclan warrior cats?
Think: You have just killed one of your Clanmates, and revealed you are half-clan and the daughter of a medicine cat. I personally love hollyleaf to bits, and here's my reasoning: Ashfur tried to kill Firestar. Hollyleaf killed Ashfur. Now hm... let me see: Hawkfrost tried to get Brambleclaw to kill Firestar. Brambleclaw killed Hawkfrost. Does everyone think he's evil? No. He's a hero. And, Hollyleaf was cut to pieces because her very existence broke the warrior code. Her life was falling to parts around her, and she couldn't do anything about it.

yup, sadly she dies in sunrise. BUT she goes crazy first She doesn't die yet. According to the Erin's chat. IMPROVEMENT************ It was confirmed in Erin Hunter Summer Chat 2011 that Hollyleaf is ALIVE and Hollyleaf IS the Forgotten Warrior (book 5 OOTS)
How did brambleclaw know that squirrelflight never had kits?
Well, Brambleclaw never knew. Squirrelflight tolf Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, And Jaypaw but Ashfur heard and was going to tell the clan about crowfeather and leafpool scince They were Leafpool's kits but then Holly leaf set off to murder Ashfur to not tell anyone so she did but the clan still found out :3 ~Tundra

Yes, in "Sunrise" it is confirmed that she killed Ashfur, and she later attempts to kill Leafpool. yep Yes because she said that Leafpool deserved to die.
