Because when Brambleclaw began to ignore her, Squirelflight began paying attention to Ashfur to make Brambleclaw jealous. When Brambleclaw and Squirelflight get together, she leaves Ashfur heartbroken.

SPOILER! Ashfur is just plain stupid, I mean he freaks out way too much when Squirrelflight leaves him to be with Brambleclaw. So now he wants to make her hurt. So ya know in Sunset when Firestar gets trapped in the fox trap, Ashfur helped Hawkfrost plan that. He wanted to kill Firestar his own leader to hurt Squirrelflight. Ashfur explains that in the Power of Three when Jaypaw, Hollypaw and Lionpaw are stuck in a fire. And ya know what happens then? He was going to leave them there to burn to death until Squirrelflight came and begged and said they weren't her kits so he lets them go. That is the whole story why Ashfur is an idiot. Brambleclaw is the best! Ok so basicaly Ashfur is trader because his mind is messed up and he couldnt deal with the fact that Squirrelflight always has loved Brambleclaw. Why does Ashfur try to kill Squirrleflight and her kits?
Ashfur tries to murder Squirrleflight, Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather because when Brambleclaw and Squirrleflight got in a fight Squirrleflight grew close to Ashfur. So when Squirrleflight and Brambleclaw make up and become mates Ashfur get furious. So when the clan believes Squirrleflight had Brambleclaw's kits. Ashfur blocks the only way out of camp when Squirrleflight and her kits are still in camp when there is a fire. Squirrleflight tells Ashfur that they aren't her kits but she doesn't tell whoes kits they are. In the book Sunrise Hollyleaf murders Ashfur before a gathering because he was going to announce that Hollyleaf and her littermates weren't Squirrleflight's kits. So when Leafpool tells Hollyleaf she knows that she killed Ashfur Hollyleaf runs away to the underground tunnels. they collapse on her and she died. Some people believe she is still alive. (Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather work out that Leafpool is their mother. While Jayfeather was dreaming StarClan came to him and gave him a crow feather. Jayfeather tells his littermates that Crowfeather from WindClan is their father. Hollyleaf announces at a gathering that Leafpool and Crowfeather are her real parents. Crowfeather gets furious with Leafpool and Leafpool backs down from her position as a medicine cat.)
Why did hollyleaf kill ashfur if she was going to tell the clans anyway?
In the books as you probably know Ashfur nearly murdered Jaypaw, Hollypaw and lionpaw (jayfeather, Hollyleaf, Lionblaze) and squirrelflight. Knowing that Ashfur was going to tell the clans her story she Killed Ashfur. But she still thought that Squirrelflight was a Horrible liar and hated her Like Ashfur did. So she told the clans to make everyone else feel the same about her not real mother. But running away in shock and terror she died in the overflowing caves. This just goes to show anger and hatred can change a cat/person forever.
How did Ashfur and Scourge become a couple?
Ashfur and Scourge are not depicted as a couple in the official Warriors series by Erin Hunter. Ashfur is a character from the ThunderClan, while Scourge is the leader of BloodClan. Their relationship in the books does not extend to being a romantic couple.
Will brambleclaw ever forgive squirrleflight?
I believe that Brambleclaw will forgive Squirrleflight. But not for a long while, because of the whole " they're not your kits " thing. If you're wondering why I think this, it's because I believe Brambleclaw still loves Squirrelflight deep don. I think he's just afraid to say so. That's my opinon. Brambleclaw lover17703, I agree, because even when he was in a big fight with her about Hawkfrost he always loved her. But stupid Ashfur got in the way but she never loved him so that doesnt matter. But what I heard is that Brambleclaw forgives Squirrelflight on his death bed which would make it very dramatic and tradgic, and I dont know why, but somehow I dont want that to happen. I want them to get back together before one of them dies, so they can have kits of their own. I really do believe Brambleclaw still loves Squirrelflight and no doubt that Squirrelflight loves him. But it might be a while. I just finished Eclipse but I know all this stuff because of Spoilers. And I am the ultimate #1 Brambleclaw fan dont deny it, you have no idea.

I don't think he will. Even though he seemed very angry with Squirrelflight in Sunset and the Fourth Apprentice I think that, deep down inside, Brambleclaw still loves her. And maybe they'll make someday.

I know one thing, Brambleclaw will never forgive Squirrelflight. Squirrelfilght lied to Brambleclaw about being his mate and that Lionblaze, Hollyleaf and Jayfeather were his kits. What happens to jaypaw in long shadows?
Several things: 1. Jaypaw learns that an old cat named Jay's Wing used to live by the lake with the early Tribe cats. He was the cat that decided for the early Tribe to go to the mountains. Jaypaw learned that he was Jay's Wing, who had come back to live by the lake. Hollyleaf and Lionblaze, he learned, had once been early Tribe cats also, but he didn't get to learn their history. 2. Jaypaw earns his Medicine Cat name, Jayfeather. 3. Jayfeather and his siblings learn that Ashfur used to love Squirrelflight, and are suspended over a fire because Ashfur has repented his love and is now trying to make Squirrelflight suffer loss. 4. Jayfeather and his siblings learn that Squirrelflight is not their real mother, which Squirrelflight tells Ashfur in an attempt to save them. Once they are back to safety and Ashfur has left, Squirrelflight confirms that what she has said was true, but Brambleclaw didn't know about any of this. 5. Ashfur keeps his mouth shut, but Jayfeather hears him asking Firestar to go to the gathering, undoubtedly so that he can announce the truth to all the cats at the gathering. Jayfeather warns his siblings and Squirrelflight about what he overheard. The day of the Gathering, Ashfur is found dead in the WindClan-ThrunderClan stream that marks the border with a warrior's wound in his neck. 6. Squirrelflight is very uneasy while the Clan talks about what might have happened, and The Clan prepares for battle to attack WindClan for the loss of Ashfur.
