1) I would recommend having a partner, for those jobs that are too many or too big, or those days in which you can't work.
2) Read up. Get a good, comprehensive gardening manual or download and print one. Learn about mulch, peat moss, liquid and solid fertilizer, pests and sprays, watering, weeding, etc. You may start with just grass lawns, but you'll probably soon be called upon to work with flowers etc.
3) Buy a very few and basic tools at first; and keep buying more tools over the coming months as you need them and as your business expands to cover new types of gardening.
4) Advertise. Word-of-mouth may not be enough. Remember that it takes money to make money; so invest in an ad in one or more local papers, and post flyers or stuff local mailboxes. Handwritten notices will not seem as professional as the kind that cost money to print.
5) Buy a notebook and keep a record of every job, what you asked for and what was paid, who owes how much, etc. Record-keeping is necessary for many reasons.
6) Learn what the "going rates" are. Don't undercharge too much.
7) As soon as you've moved beyond doing just your Aunt Bertha's lawn, buy receipt-stubs and start paying your taxes. Uncle Sam can swoop down and create big problems for those who ignore this. And when your business expands, you'll want to have a working relationship with a local lawyer as well.
The best of luck to you!!

The easiest way is to get a job. Now getting the job may prove difficult. A teen can get a part time job your not going to do much except push in carts or bag groceries, easy right? Another option is to start a lawn mowing babysitting or tutoring business.
Due to Child Labor Laws, it is a bit more difficult for teens under the age of 16 to get a job. Some ideas if you are under 16 include 1.
