Importance of patriotism

Patriotism leads to the follow benefits:

1. It leads to sustainable development: If citizens are patriotic, it could lead to development in the country. A patriotic citizen is prepared to do things that will make his nation develop. Such a person will not do anything that will retard the development of the nation.

2. Prevents brain drain: A patriotic citizen is always prepared to work in his or her country even if the salary is not like working for other nations. Because of the love a nurse has for her nation, she may decide to work in her country even though other may be travelling to seek greener pastures in other countries.

3. Protection of state assets: Patriotism leads to protection of state assets. Patriotic citizens take good care of state assets as they will do to their own. He or she handle government properties such as vehicles, building and tools with care leading to prolong lifespan of these assets.

4. International reputation: A patriotic citizen will always wish to protect the name of his nation. They therefore behave well wherever they find themselves so that the name of their nation will not be in disrepute.

5. Respect of national symbols: Being patriotic leads to respect for national symbols. A patriotic citizen handles national symbols such as the national flag with respect. The sing nationalistic songs such as the national anthem and national pledge.
