There are no cheap ways of raising animals... Be prepared for expenses to build enclosure, possible heaters, fans and brooder lights (access to electricity). vet bills, feed, medication, wormers and vaccines, whether chicken, dog, cat it will be a lifelong responsibilty that will rarely make money.
A habitat would be a complete living area, free from predators, has a food source , clean water and protection from the elements, not just to live but thrive in a safe environment.
Depending where you live and weather patterns and what type of predators would be first consideration. Wood, wire, kennels, up coops, chicken tractor warmth in winter, fans for a hot summer, do you need a roof, etc.
I am in Hawaii so very few predators, the occasional mongoose, a rarely seen Hawaiian hawk or owls, mostly irresponsible pet owners in the neighborhood are the biggest predators, roaming cats and dogs. Pens are a must. hens will learn to lay in the same place, if they are free ranging you may or may not find those precious eggs. If you dont find them now you have chicks to feed, eat, rehome.
Feed source from feed store for basic feed, but they love veggies, grass, fruits, worms, bugs.... If they eat bugs they will most likely need to be wormed.
Should you go the cheap route on the cheeps, good luck.

No, cassowaries do not feed their chicks milk. Unlike mammals, cassowaries are birds, and they do not produce milk. Instead, cassowary chicks are fed a diet of fruits, seeds, and small insects, which they find in their natural habitat. The mother cassowary provides protection and guidance to her chicks as they forage for food.
