They are a medium sized terrier-- about 13' to the shoulders-- Their colouration is verry similar to that of the Airrdale-- With a base colour of tan with a black saddle. They are born almost entirely black and develop the tan on the legs, head, chest, belly, and rear end running all the way to the underside of the tail.
In shape they are very much like the Wired haired fox terrier and are of around the same general size.

The best mouser dogs are typically terrier breeds like Jack Russell Terriers, Rat Terriers, and Border Terriers. These breeds were originally bred for hunting small mammals, making them excellent at catching and controlling rodents.
Boston terriers or for something a little bigger, an Old Boston Bulldog! They live to please you, have short hair and low odor, sweet natured and don't bark very much. The best darn dogs we've ever had.
A good dog for small yard and children would be probably a cocker spaniel or chihuahua. Cocker Spaniels are very nice dogs, and so are chihuahuas. Chihuahua can be very protective over your family, and they act as if they are big dogs and not so little. Cocker Spaniels I hear are very good dogs, and are the most well-behaved dog in the US. I strongly recommend those dogs.
Yes, Patterdale Terriers are known for being excellent squirrel hunters due to their strong prey drive and agility. They are skilled at tracking and flushing out squirrels from trees, making them effective tree-squirrel dogs. Additionally, their compact size and determination make them well-suited for this type of hunting.
The Affenpinscher is a good family dog, but do best with older children. In general small dogs are not often recommended for households with children.
