they only suckle for 1 hour and then start eating normal dry guinea pig food but i would leave them in with there mum for 1 week before separating them just in case
It depends how many guinea pigs you have. If you have 1 or 2 then I would recommend that you clean the hutch once a week. If you have more than three guinea pigs then you will have to clean it out pretty often!
No, guinea pigs do not like to live alone. When getting a guinea pig, it is best to get two guinea pigs so when you can't give them attention, they have each other to play with. But when you get only one guinea pig, be sure to give it a lot of attention. But please read this: Do not put 2 males together in the same cage. They will fight nonstop. 2 females will live nice together and a guinea pig can happily live in the same cage with a rabbit. Also, when a guinea pig has babies, be sure to remove the male guinea pig.
They are very clean. But if you are going to have one you will still need to clean there cage. But the guinea pig will clean themselves I believe. I already know that guinea pigs are the cleanest rodent. After the guinea pig is the rat.
The difference between a hamster and a guinea pig is that the hamster is smaller, eats less, sleeps during the day and is active at night, and doesn't eat that much fruit. Guinea pigs NEED vitamin C, fruit, greens, timothy hay, vitamins (lots and lots). They need a certain amount of attention. Hamsters like to be left alone, they also need an outdoors cage so they can get their exercise because they don't run on a wheel. Guinea pigs NEED a buddy to share their cage and meals with, while hamsters PREFER to have a cage to themselves. Also, most hamsters know how to unlatch their cage door, and guinea pigs just sit there and wait to be taken out of their cage. Guinea pigs don't run on a wheel, in a ball, or climb through tunnels. The reason for that is that a guinea pig has a very fragile spine that can not bend in that much of a "U" shape. Hamsters, because of their small size, are not all that easy to cuddle with. Therefore, they are used to people watching them and holding them, but not cuddling up with them. Since guinea pigs are so much larger than hamsters, they LOVE to cuddle up with the person they are closest to, because it is more comfortable to do so.
Guinea pigs make various sounds depending on the situation. They purr when they are happy and content. They squeal softly when they want attention or a treat. They squeal loudly when frightened. They click their teeth when they are angry. guinea pigs do make alot of nosies and they are so cute when they make noises but they do get annoying but DON'T HURT THEM
Guinea pigs only sleep for about 6 minutes a day, unless your hamster runs around 24/7 it wont keep them up.
It's best to keep them in the same cage for about a week. And you have to put them in the same cage together for about and hour each day after that for a while. I have 3 male guinea pigs at home and usually the guinea pig who came into the family or home first will try to show the other guinea pigs who is in charge (Or dominant). It usually takes about a week to two weeks for the guinea pigs to work it out and become great buddies.
Wood cages are not very good because guinea pigs love to chew on wood. If you give your guinea pig a wooden cage, they might chew threw one day. Your pet might get lost!
guinea pigs can be housed in a 3x2 cage inside or a 3x2 hutch (insolated for winter) out side make sure to cleen cages every week at least 1 time. i cleen mine every day because i love and care extra for my guinea pigs.
They have flies there because no matter how much you clean your guinea pig's cage the smell of the feces will always be there unless you clean your cage every 2 weeks. Just use some soap and water. After about a year of having the same cage I find it more fun for the guinea pigs to get a new cage unless you get them out for about a hour each day. That way they don't get too bored.
Cats ,maybe dogs and wild animal's 2 day old baby guinea pigs were attacked by cats and so was the dad guinea pig and they didn't survive so never let your cats near your guinea pigs if they are not in a closed hutch or run or cage. Hope this helped.
guinea pigs with long hair. they needed to be brushed every day
give them lots of toys and take them out often. if this doesn't work, and your guinea pig just hides in its hut all day, try taking the hut out of his/her cage
Unless the males are littermates (meaning they are from the same litter) this should not be done.
No. Just make sure that the guinea pig gets lots of attention and time every day to run around outside of it's cage in a safe environment
You should keep their cage with timothy hay and veggies all day they will eat when they want too.
This all depends, did both your Guinea pigs die on the same day? If so they may have died of shock. Maybe something scared them, so they ran around trying to find a escape, (spurt of energy) and then were too frightened to move so they died. This is only a theory.
