It used to be believed that pigs could not swim without cutting their own throat with their trotters. This was a myth, pigs can swim, there is even such a thing as the pig Olympics which was held in Moscow, Russia, one of the events being swimming!
However, like all living things, if a pig is unable to swim for reasons such as injury/ ill health/exhaustion or many other reasons, then they will drown.

∙ 15y agoSheep have wool and hooves. Wool absorbs water and makes sheep more dense and heavy, making them more likely to sink. Hooves lack the shape to make for efficient swimming appendages. Horses can sometimes swim because of the sheer size of their muscles and the force they can exert. Sheep are weaker and more stubby.
So, no, they can't swim. At least, not very well, and not for very long.

∙ 12y agoSheep have some buoyancy until their wool becomes water-logged and they will sink. The only other time that sheep will definitely float on water is once they have drowned and the decomposing bacteria start to produce gas in the carcase.
