The term "crazy" is a very subjective word - what may be crazy to others may be completely normal to a different set of individuals.
However, many kittens and cats - particularly their behavior and antics - are believed to be crazy by many people. It is well known that cats have their "crazy half-hour" or "cat crazies" where they will hurtle around the house for no apparent reason - and then suddenly stop as soon as it began. This is really very much akin to a small child; children will often run around like mad just to release all that pent-up energy, and it is very likely cats, especially kittens, do the same for the exact same reasons: To release pent-up energy and above all - to have fun! It also serves as a brilliant workout for them.
Kittens can often be confusing in this manner: One minute they are calm and cuddly, and the next they are all little teeth and claws and huge wide eyes. For some new kitten owners, this is where it stops being fun and because they think their kitten is "evil", the kitten is put in a shelter. In fact, it couldn't be more from the truth. Kittens play rough, and it doesn't matter if they are a fellow cat or a human as the playmate. They use their teeth and claws and can hurt if not trained properly. Kittens will often grow out of this phase, but many cats are still playful and will happily play with their owners if there isn't another feline companion to play with.
This is a far cry from a cat actually being crazy. Few cats have mental illnesses and often have a reason for behaving in a certain way - it is down to the owner to educate themselves about their beloved companion's behavior.
It is built-up energy and that is how they release it.
Yes, most cats go crazy with lasers, yarn, and jingle balls. Toys with a combination of sensual attributes are good choices. (Jingle balls have sound, smell (catnip), and touch incorporated).
It depends. If you run a shelter, or are a breeder, it's not bad. If you woke up one day and realized that you've become the crazy cat lady, it's bad. What crazy cat lady your kidding me.ha ha :)
Well I had 5 but 1 I was looking after for a while. It was a struggle because there was hardly enough money for cat food. The owner came and took his cat, which left me with 4. That was alright but money was still tight. One of my male cats ran away, so that left me with 3 cats. This was better because they can share one tin between three cats. 5 and 4 cats are a bit too many in my household for my budget, but it depends on your own income. The number of cats you can care for directly corresponds to how much space you have in your house, and how much you earn. Ideally, you should be able to afford all the things a cat needs, which includes any emergency/unplanned trips to the vet and medication. If you are struggling to feed your cats(s) enough food each day, it would be kinder to give them away to someone who can afford their care.
In its mentally ill form it's called "Animal Hoarding". The typical person is a lonely, crazy old woman with a house full of cats, peeing wherever they wish. Someone who lavishes lavishes affection on a reasonable number cats is often called a "Cat Granny". That's an insult, and can be applied to a male or female. "Cat fancier" might be a neutral term. Their is a cat magazine called "Cat Fancy".
