Absolutely they can providing that the cage is big enough to fit two comfortably. There will probably be a little fighting in the beginning for them to establish who is dominant but it will die down and they will become friends.
Hi.. The answer is yes.. with a caution that they seem to be born pregnant! They're sexually mature at only 4 weeks, so watch out, because 2 guinea pigs can turn into 6 really quickly. We know from experience! Also, the female goes into estrus at the same time she gives birth! So if you have that situation going on, definitely send the males on a little vacation. I'd recommend getting them spayed unless you have a lot of friends who love guinea pigs! I have to say that I'm glad we went through it, because baby and juvenile guinea pigs are SO darned cute, popcorning all over the place. :-) Enjoy your piggies! Robert
Guineapigs are a social animal so it is reccommended to keep them in pairs or more.
If you get a pair of boys make sure they have a very good sized cage because at about 5 months they will hit puberty and need to be able to keep out of each others way a little till they settle.
Females are usually more relaxed but it is still a good idea to provide two beds or hiding places incase they want a bit of quiet time away from each other.
If you want your 2 Guinea Pigs to mate then a boy and girl Guinea Pig can be in the same cage. If you don't want the Guinea Pigs to mate then don't put the Guinea Pigs together.
They are very clean. But if you are going to have one you will still need to clean there cage. But the guinea pig will clean themselves I believe. I already know that guinea pigs are the cleanest rodent. After the guinea pig is the rat.
Opinion 1: No, it is nor okay. They can severely damage their feet and can cause a painful infection. Get a cage with no wire floor.Opinion 2:There is absolutely no problem with having a guinea pig cage with a wire floor. Having bred guinea-pigs for a great many years, I can assure you that never once did any of our guinea-pigs suffer any damage at all to their feet as a result of a wire cage.Wire floor cages are necessary in warmer parts of the world where the guinea-pigs spend all their time utdoors. this way, they can still get to the grass underneath the cage, and engage in their natural behaviour, which is to graze. If your guinea poig cage does not have a wire floor, or some other way for the guinea pig to get to the grass, you are depriving it of something which is instinctive. If your guinea pig is a completely indoors guinea pig (which is unnatural in itself), the floor of its cage must be wood or some other sturdy material with no gaps. Wire floor cages are only good if the cage sits flat on the ground.
Well, most likely, if there is more than one in a cage, they are happy, because they like having friends. But if if there is just one, it is sad, because it is lonely. Remember: Guinea Pigs are sociable animals. They like having more than one in a cage. They can get very lonely by themselves.
It depends how many guinea pigs you have. If you have 1 or 2 then I would recommend that you clean the hutch once a week. If you have more than three guinea pigs then you will have to clean it out pretty often!
You need to keep any males out of the same cage that a pregnant female is in. You can keep other females with the pregnant one. If you think you may have a problem with the pregnant one, you can cage her by herself.
Yes! It is alright to cage them seperatly but guinea pigs love company and may get lonely. 3 is the best number of guinea pigs to keep in one large cage so that way if one cage mate dies, the others will not miss it so terribly as if it were the only one.
Most likely because they may not like their cage or was enjoying what they were doing... unless you can get in a guinea pigs mind no one really knows why.
Yes! Most guinea pigs love to be together and will be happier and livelier. Just make sure that the cage is big enough, and that the guinea pigs are the same sex.
Put one in a different cage
not necessarily; if you leave one guinea pig in the cage with the sick guinea pig, the guinea pig that is not sick can get sick; you should separate them just to be safe but if the guinea pigs start to get lonely, put them back together
You might see the guinea pig look around the cage and call for it. Whenever I take my guinea pigs apart the one that's still in the cage looks all around the cage and if he doesn't see the other guinea pig he starts squeaking.
If you have one in a cage then you tie a spiecel water bottle from Petsmart to the cage and change it every couple of days. Hope this was helpful!
one with enough room to run around because they are very hiper
No. if they were guinea pigs that don't fight with each other than the non-blind one might help the blind one get around, eat and live a normal life.
Wood cages are not very good because guinea pigs love to chew on wood. If you give your guinea pig a wooden cage, they might chew threw one day. Your pet might get lost!
There is no limit, assuming you have a big enough cage, to how many guinea pigs of different sexes and/or sizes you can physically put together. I am not sure if you will get baby guinea pigs out of it though.
They are very clean. But if you are going to have one you will still need to clean there cage. But the guinea pig will clean themselves I believe. I already know that guinea pigs are the cleanest rodent. After the guinea pig is the rat.
