If you want to own a horse, you need to give him a field, shelter and fresh water. He also needs hay all year round or in winter and some kind of hard feed. I would personally advice you to contact a big feed brand and they'll send free feed samples (For taste test) and will choose feed(s) suitable for your horse. Oats wouldn't be suitable for a highly strung horse but everyday chaff and sugar beet pulp I would recommend for any horse.
He also needs various rugs, including travel boots, tail guard and poll gurd.
He'll need a saddle cloth, saddle, bridle, stirrups, reins, stirrup leathers and a bit. He may also need protective boots (Tendon, over-reach etc). If you want to drive him you'll need a carriage/exercise vehicle, harness, bridle and a Liverpool driving bit.
You will however need a hard helmet, not a bicycle helmet, you can choose either a velvet covered hat or a skull cap which you can buy covers for. A body protector for jumping or cross country but it's recommended you were it all the time. Jodphurs are essential and you can were chaps if you want. Jodphur boots or long riding boots with jodphur clips for the shorter ones. Gloves and a hat should be worn at all times when around horses, handling andriding. You can wear a hacking or show jacket if you're at a show or jumping but apart from that you can wear a jumper. You should wear a white shirt for showing and a long sleeved shirt for mounted games. If you are planning on doing cross country you need a medical armband with information inside. If you're in a Pony/riding club you will need a jumper and a jacket with the logo and name of the club on it and sometimes it can have your own name too. Achievement badges can be sewed on the jumper sleeves.
You should have a horse and rider first aid kit and a horse passport.
If your going to just ride the horse then you need some riding boots or wellies that have a small heel to stop your foot slipping and a pair of jodhpurs. But if you are going to own the horse then you will need a lot of other stuff. Well, it all depends on the horse.
to ride you need a bridle, saddle, saddle pad.
you also need grooming and maintenance supplies. [ aka brushes, curry combs, pitchforks etc]
you need hay, oats/grain, and water .
these are just the main things, its possible to need more.
First off you need all of the basic knowledge of a horse, what they eat, when they eat, when to get them wormed, when to get their hooves trimmed and much more depending what you plan on doing with your horse.
1. Pasture big enough for the horse to run and play, some states have laws on how many livestock per acre so check on that. And a sturdy fence (no fun chasing a loose horse around)
2. Hay bales and grain get from a feed store or local hay farmer
3. Some brushes, halter and lead rope, and if you plan to ride then make sure your horse is very well broke for inexperienced riders and you will need a saddle, saddle pad, and bridle
4.If you plan on taking your horse places then you will need a horse trailer, a coggins test and coggins negative papers. To read on why you need the test and papers goto: http://www.thehorse.com/viewarticle.aspx?ID=679
5. Take your horse at least twice a year to a vet for vaccinations and other tests that should be done regularly, and for worming for horse you can do yourself by buying the dewormer at the vets and following the box directions and doing so regularly.
grooming kit saddle and bridle rugs/blanket water/feed buckets
The horse is surprisingly adaptive to new conditions. However the only things they need are forage, shelter and water to survive, other than that there isn't really anything special that they need.
It depends where you ride. If you are having lessons at your house then yes you will probably need your own horse. But if you are going to a riding centre then usually you will not need a horse of your own.
I guess you would need basic items if you have a horse. A feed bag, curry brush, etc. are good horse items for horse people.
Horse Balsam is a plant!
It's not Copenhagen - that was Wellington's horse. Then why say it,,,he was a sailor and did not need a horse !
Alot of things!!!
Do a mental or written checklist, or both.
Things on a baby needs checklist will be a crib, changing table, diapers, breast pump, thermometer, and many others.
you need a helmet, riding boots, riding pants, and a crop( if your horse is slow ). you can find these things at the store Horsing Around.
yes
That depends on how well you treat your horse. If you treat your horse well it might be quite expensive but the main thing you need to remember is a horse is for life not just for Christmas.
What you need for a pony is the same this as you need for a horse. Some things are: Saddle (english or westen) Girth, Bridal (english or western) brushes, hoovepick, saddle pads, halter, leadrope, food, stable and a big field for it to run and exercise (and to ride it) treats (optional) mounting block (optional) I have a horse. These are some things I have for my horse.
There are a number of marketing material checklist items a small business owner will need to have. The checklist would include logo, business cards, website, brochure and company clothing.
Since the things you need to remember are likely to be specific to you and your job, your best option would be to create one for yourself.
to get a horse you need to ship 1000 things i recommend crops or bird feed from popori
There are two things actually. 1-a halter 2-a lead rope
Brushes, Hoof pick, quality grain, horse grade hay, fresh water. Basic medical supplies - bandages, wraps, disinfectant.
