Rabbits groom themselves and each other with their tongue, by licking their fur.
For hard to reach spots (like the forehead), rabbits groom themselves by licking their front paws and using those as a cloth. Rabbits will use this technique for their ears, too, but they will also sometimes pull the ears down across their face, where they can reach them with their tongue.
For the insides of the ears, rabbits will reach up with their hind legs and use their toe nails to scratch out parasites and debris and earwax. (Rabbits eat their earwax; sounds digusting, but it's a source for Vitamin D!)
Pet rabbits can't be left to their own devices, when it comes to grooming. If they consume much fur, serious digestive problems can result (leading to death), so they must be brushed regularly(especially while moulting). Other grooming tasks, like nail clipping, must also be performed regularly at home. See the related questions/links below for more details.

No, it is not necessary to clean a hamster's butt with a cloth. Hamsters are very clean animals and groom themselves regularly to maintain hygiene. However, if you notice any unusual discharge or signs of illness, it is best to consult a veterinarian for proper care.
