Pain is a way of informing an organism that it must change something immediately. It that sense it has terrific survival value, and it is difficult to imagine any creature being able to survive and reproduce without some indication of that kind. Even bacteria and viruses have ways of sensing and reacting to danger.

It is not possible to know what a reptile feels, but it is reasonable to assume that a vertebrate with a nervous system as advanced as a reptile's would feel pain. We do, and we have similar nervous systems. Lacking proof to the contrary, it would be ridiculous to assume otherwise.
