internet research found that Child of the Earth Spiders, aka Windscorpions, are not poisonous. They aren't even spiders and they aren't scorpions. They are, however, one of the largest arachnids. The name Windscorpion comes their running speed. They are generally nocturnal hunters eating anything they can catch. They can bite people and though they are not venomous, the bite can become infected.

Because their bear a similar common name - Child of the Earth - these can be confused with the Child of the Earth crickets, which are also known as Jerusalem Crickets or Potato Bugs.

It is an insect and not a spider. The niño de la tierra ("earth child") can give a painful nip if handled but they are harmless and beneficial. If found inside a home, carefully scoop it up with a dust pan and return it to the outdoors where it will feed on dead organic matter and other insects. Another name for this insect is 'Jerusalem Cricket.' For more information, click on this link.
