Sturgeons are a species of fish. In Europe, thhiey are found throughout the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts as well as many rivers (Danube, Volga, etc.). I'm not sure how you can relate this species of fish to Europe's arid region, because they are not exclusive to Europe's arid region.

Lions generally live in hot, arid climates. A prime example of an African lion's ideal habitat is the Sahara in Africa.
Suitable habitat for the lions consists of semi-arid plains and Savannah grasslands. This habitat is exhibited almost extensively throughout sub-Saharan Africa with the exception of the Congo region. The Savannah grasslands are spotted with Acacia trees which provide shade and resting locations for lions.

The sphinx moth (Hyles lineated) can be found in a wide variety of habitats. These range from arid deserts to tropical rainforests.
I don't see how sturgeons are related to Europe's arid region; they certainly don't live in it! :)
