My old Jade (20 years old) was laying quietly on our bedroom rug and I knew it was time to have her put to sleep. A terrible thing to do, but thankfully she didn't have to suffer. She was just old and I was lucky to have her for all those years. When cats have strokes they will become paralyzed down either the right or left side. Their heads may roll around as well as their eyes and the tongue may hang loosely out of their mouth. If you suspect your cat is dying or close to death please see your vet immediately. Sometimes (if the cat isn't too old) the vet may be able to treat the cat back to a quality of life or even good health. Talk to your vet and they will advise you whether your cat should be put to sleep.
