A depth of 4,500 feet/1,500 meters is the furthest down that a narwhal can live. But that depth only can be tolerated for 20-25 minutes at a time. That depth also is reached only in pursuit of narwhal prey of the lower, midnight zone of the Arctic and North Atlantic Ocean waters. Typically, a narwhal favors the sunlit waters of the upper zone that goes down 600 feet/200 meters from the ocean surface.
It is where they have adapted to live
I am a real live Narwhal. I make sounds through my HEART. It is a joyous place there:)
Arctic
The narwhal primarily lives in the Arctic zone, specifically in Arctic waters near Canada, Greenland, Russia, and Norway. They are adapted to living in icy conditions and are often found in deep waters near drifting sea ice.
A narwhal can live up to 90 years but it's much shorter then that in captivity.
it can live to about 5,000 feet down deep in the water
a narwhal lives in the sea by Canada (Atlantic), and by Scandinavia.

Deep water
It is where they have adapted to live
Clams live under the sand by the water most of the time. They live in waist deep water because they have to have water to live and if something in the water moves them they will stay under the water.
They live pretty deep down.
