taught them that if they wanted to gain access to food more readily, they must befriend mankind. Through the evolutionary processes, they eventually became domesticated enough through their own instinctual drives to gain access to our home and our lives. I am unsure of how dogs became our pets. I do believe they were domesticated before felines however.
