Perhaps you have an infestation of "Indian Meal Moths". The eggs would have been in some grain product that you stored in the cupboard. Over time the eggs hatch, and then the larva become Moths. Check the cupboard or pantry for more larva or moths. Dry dog food, cat food, or bird seed are big time sources. The older a product is, the greater the odds are that you will have bugs. All grain products have insect eggs in them. Sorry but it is a fact of life.
If it is indeed a grain moth infestation you will have to throw out ALL the grain products that were stored together. Save NOTHING. If you do the chances of the infestation starting over again is VERY high.
If you have grain products that you use very seldom, like flour, rice, etc, putting them in the refrigerator or freezer will make the eggs stay dormant, or kill them if the temperature is low enough.
