You hear your voice as it is transmitted through the bone of your skull and jaw into your hearing, combined with the sound coming through the air. Others only hear what comes through the air. Sound travels through bone differently than air, making your voice sound different to you than to others. Because you are primarily hearing the vibrations made by you vocal cords and the air passing through you mouth rather than the finished sound as another would hear. To hear you true voice you have to record it and play it back.

The voice u hear when u talk is partly from the vibrations through ur skull and so the pitch is a bit different.

the recording, as long as its a decent one, is what everybody but u hear, so its always just u who think that the recording is weird.

When you listen to your voice when you are actually speaking it; it reaches your ears via two routes , from the air and from inside your head (ie directly from the larynx). This sound is obviously different from the sound heard only by the part of your voice which reaches your ears through the ear only , ie which is what you hear when you listen to your recorded voice.

When you speak in a record, it is gonna sound different because when played it is a reversal of your own voice. Like when you suck up helium.

How does a recorder make different sound?

Most people DON'T want to hear this, but the way you sound on a recording, is the way you truly sound. Now, different recording devises might sound a little different than others. For example, I notices a cell phone is way off, and a microphone is more like my voice. On a cell phone, your voice might be distorted during the process of recording. But also it is mainly the way you sound . Thing is, you hear yourself internally and externally, meaning you hear the vibrations from inside your body (like bones), resulting in you hearing your voice differently than others.

Does your recorded voice show your real voice?
