Well I don't know where the smell is originating from but I found this great pet product that takes the smell out of about every surface or item I've tried.
Any animal feels a sadness, but more than that they feel a fear. A natural instinct is to get rid of dead siblings before the smell attracts predators to the warren. Adult rabbits who are bonded to their siblings will also feel sadness when their "mate" dies. They will go through a period of mourning and should be given comfort and love.
i would try club soda or vinegar. in major pet stores they might sell cleansers to get rid of the smell also.
Remove the dead birds
Check the surrounding areas and the duct itself for anything (dead animal? wet area? mold? ) that could be causing the odor.
It might be plumbing.. Otherwise, maybe some dead animal. I'd call an inspector if I were you.

He has to call a professional.
You can buy leather cleaner or leather conditioner. That would probably get rid of the smell.
The Only Way To EVER Get The Smell Completely Out, Would Be To Find It. Call an exterminator to do the job.
My friend had the same problem. We used a pressure washer with industrial soap to remove his cats flesh from around his engine and fan blades. I highly advise you not to use boiling water due to the fact that it started to cook the flesh. It still smelt bad for a while. Try to use some pine sol or dish soap, perhaps both. Good luck.
The same as any other dead animal contains. Get rid of it. Bury it, feed it to your cat, or throw it in the garbage. That's what this contributor does with his dead rats.
First remove the dead squirrel, then clean up the area with bleach and water. next, spray some air freshner daily until smell seems to disapate....you may have to repeate the bleach and h2o process...
It depends on if there is any flesh on the animal bones. You should place the animal bones in a ziplock bag with bleach in them for a couple weeks to get rid of any chance of bacteria and hopefully then they won't smell.
