get a water siphon, an algae scraper and aquarium water conditioner.
With the algae scraper scrub the inside glass and any other areas that have algae visible (the green stuff). If any of your ornaments need cleaning, take them out and scrub them (with something that's new and never use it for anything else) rinse them under tap water. Put them back in your tank.
Then with your water siphon, drain 25% (40% if the water is that dirty) into a bucket. Refill the bucket with tap water and add the water conditioner (this neutralises all the chemicals added in tap water). Pour the water in gently.
And that is how you clean your fish tank.
It needs to be done at least every week

It depends on how often you clean the tank. you dont need a sucker fish if you clean your tank alot. If you dont clean your tank that often then get one. you should talk to your local pet store for more information.
Step 1: first, get a cup/bowl and put 25% to 50% of the water from the tank into a bucket.Step 2: Gently deposit each of your fish into that bucket, temporarily.Step 3: Get a clean sponge, and wipe the glass inside of the tank. Do NOT use cleaners; they will kill your fish.Step 4: After that, put clean water in. Make SURE it is ready for FISH to live in it!Step 5: Reinsert filters, lights, etc.Step 6: Check with a fish store concerning what the water needs to be before re-introducing the fish! (Salinity; temperature; how oxygenated it is...etc. Used to be that you had to wait 24 hours before putting the fish back in but I don't know if that has changed or not.Put your fish from the buck into the tank, one at a time.Step 7: DUMP the dirty water from all buckets you used.Step 8: Enjoy your new, clean fish tank! You shouldn't keep pebbles or fake plants in the tank because they cause bacteria and that kills fish. When you clean a tank and you do have gravel you need to take the gravel out and put new in if you like. You should not clean it with chemicals or soap that will kill the fish to i think you should just scrub it down with just a wet cloth so you get the stuff out of the tank.

your fish have a funus growing on them that will kill them go to aquarium and buy white spot and fungas medication. remove fish from DIRTY tank. clean tank. medicate the water. if fish are sharing tank with other fish keep them separate and medicate till whits spot is gone this fungus will contract to all other fish if let go is mostly brought to tank by introducing plants or other fish that have already been contaminated.also by a DIRTY tank
The principle is 'dilution': with the first addition of clean water to dirty water, the dirty water becomes less dirty because it is diluted by the clean water. With the continued addition of clean water to dirty water, eventually the dirty water will be completely diluted and there will be no dirty water left; it will all be replaced by clean water.
It is OK to use a detergent when cleaning (scrubbing) out a dirty fish tank. The important thing is to make very sure the tank is scrubbed with clean water a couple of times after the detergent has been rinsed out. Any detergent left in the tank could easily kill your fish.
depends on the size of the fish, there might not be enough oxigen in a small fish tank.
depending on how dirty it gets i would empy everything out when cleanins is needed, scrub the inside and then fill it with new clean water
