you don't. but if you realy want to, you can risk your life and try. your choice. It might be best to take the animal to a qualified vet. They are trained to deal with all kinds of grooming issues with animals and can sort the problem out for you. I'd recommend using a cat type nail trimmer. And having a vet do it while you watch and learn is a great idea. The key is to get enough to take out the 'sharp' without cutting into the quick of the nail.
