If you go on: www.Google.com

Type in: Breeders for _________(put breed of your dog down) in ___________(the town and State you live in.

You will get lots of breeders on the web and you can contact them. I will warn you that although some breeders can be very fussy to a fault, that means they are concerned about a healthy breed of dog, so stick to it. If someone is too quick to breed then stay clear.

Good luck Marcy

Good answer, also you can try to find breeders over dogs and puppies for sale websites. Breeders are there too.

How much do English setters cost?

English Setters purchased from a responsible breeder (AKC/show type) sell between $900.00 - $2500.00. And price can depend on the area of the country where the puppy/dog is located. Field bred (strictly hunting line) can begin at a lower price but can go as high as many show bred puppies. Breeder should be willing and eager to discuss the parents health and temperament background, as well as discuss the temperament of their puppies. Reliable breeders do not send puppies into their new home earlier than 8 weeks of age, often many send pups home over 8 weeks of age.

What are pros and cons of puppy mills?

There are no pros, sure the people selling the animals make a profit, but slavery was profitable as well and that wasn't right either. It is terrible on the animals themselves because in order to make a profit these dog breeders cut corners in their care for their animals. Female dogs may spend their entire life pushing out puppies. They receive either no medical attention or the bare minimum of it. They are denied adequate food and shelter. They receive no protection from the elements. In the winter they freeze and in the summer they must put up with sweltering heat. These dogs barely see the outsides of their cages and they receive absolutely no socialization. Also little care is given to the breeding itself. A responsible breeder carefully matches dogs so as to avoid unwanted health problems such as deafness, blindness, hip dysphasia and many others. The puppies are taken away from their mothers far to quickly and rarely do they receive the proper shots or immunizations before they are shipped off to a store. The mistreatment of the dogs also causes problems for those who buy them, because puppies are torn away from their mothers to soon there are often behavior and socialization issues. It is not unusual for the puppies that come from these breeder to be seriously ill. The poor breeding causes all kinds of health issues later in life. The life span may be diminished and problems such as hip dysphasia, blindness, skin problems, hearing loss. Theses things are bad for the dog and your pocket book. If you plan on getting a dog please adopt. Even if you have a particular breed in mind, there are rescue groups out there for every imaginable breed of dog, you just have to be willing to look. However if you are insistent on buying a dog from a breeder, please make sure you get the dog from a good breeder.

How much does a puppy cost?

Hi, Firstly the cost of buying a puppy is not always related to the size of the puppy when fully grown. You will always pay more for a pedigree puppy than you would a cross/mongrel as with a pedigree puppy you will have the 'pedigree' (which is like a 5 generation family tree including both sides of the sir & dam). You could pay for example £250 plus for a puppy no matter what breed your looking for. It all depends on these factors: 1: pedigree/crossbred 2: location of puppy e.g breeder/re-homing centre 3: male/female 4: champion lineage in pedigree 5: breeder wants to recoup their costs e.g make a profit 6: how much competition breeder has 7: How much you are willing to spend

How old does a puppy have to be to get neutered?

Six months is the typical age that vets neuter (spay is typically the term used) puppies, however there is early age spay/neutering that can be done from seven to sixteen weeks of age. This is still somewhat controversial in the animal communitiy, so ask your vet what age they are willing to spay your dog.

Can a puppy weigh over 100 pounds?

She might have a sore back, but yes she can carry them. The trick comes when a 55lb dog tries to deliver the puppies of a 100lb dog. The puppies will be 50% larger than what is natural, and will most likely get stuck in the birth canal, killing mother and pups. IF she is already pregnant, then you can find a vet clinic willing to do a c-section (just like human c-sections), and talk to them about when you will need to bring her in.

Which two features would a dog breeder look fro when choosing huskies to breed from?

There are more than two things to look for when buying a puppy from a breeder. Do your homework and read up on the diseases or disorders common in Siberian Husky breed. The breeder should be willing to let you tour his/her kennel and see the breeding stock that's on premises. The kennel should not smell bad, the dogs should be kept in proper housing with adequate room for exercise. See the paperwork that the breeding stock has been genetically tested for diseases common to the Husky breed. The breeder should guarantee in writing the health of all puppies sold. The breeder should have taken all necessary steps to insure that each and every puppy bred is given all the socialization that's appropriate for the dog's age. That means the puppy is being raised by it's mother and with it's littermates, with people, not separate from people. The puppies should not be fearful. Be sure the breeder uses a sales contract that clearly defines the rights and expectations of both you and seller. Once you pick out the puppy, the breeder should have completed all inoculations appropriate for the age of the puppy that's being sold. You should be given all veterinary documents. Even with all of this, you would be wise to have the puppy examined by a vet of your choice within a week of taking it home. A good breeder only wants what's best for his/her dogs. A good breeder will take back any dog sold if the buyer is unable to keep the dog.

How many weeks old should puppies be before they can drink out of bowl?

A lot depends on breed and, especially the breeder/trainer, and "Mom". Our kennel trains K9/Protection working dogs and at 6 weeks they eat and drink independently. Many others (as pets) may routinely take 10-12 weeks, or more. Get recommendations from several Vets for area trainers that know your dog's breed and give them a call. Most are willing to share their knowledge with you.

Why are puppies adorable?

Puppies and other young offspring have certain characteristics that cause adults to respond in a nurturing way. It's important for them to have this effect on adults because if they weren't cute, we wouldn't be willing to put in all the intensive work into cleaning up after them, toilet training them, and keeping them out of mischief.
