=No actually rubbing a pen on a comb sounds like a cricket. Closest way I know is just saying katydid .=
I just had this expirence last night it was horrible
There are a number of insects that could be making a loud buzzing noise at night. Different types of beetles, crickets, and even sometimes frogs make these sounds in Oahu at night.
Many crickets, frogs, cicada, owls, etc.. can make loud clicking noises at night. It's that sound you hear on a hot southern night that can put you to sleep. BUT, what happens when you hear a "clicking" noise that is out of the norm? This is a LOUD click 20-30 times over and over, not in three's (it almost does not sound like it could be from an animal; more like a machine, but it is not)! I would appreciate a response that makes sense i.e. it's not a cricket or a cicada (even when cicada have a specific call, this is not what I am talking about). Possibly certain species of owls at certain times of year? bats? snakes?
a gay noise
They make noise by making it.
Cicada is the name of the insect you are looking for.
Katydids make noise by rubbing their forewings together. Katydids are relatives of grasshoppers and crickets and measure over 2 inches long when they are full grown.
Are the wheels rubbing on anything?
it could be belt pulley rubbing on the timing belt cover or it could be the berries in the wheel but if its making grinding noise while ilding then def check your pulley make sure it isn't rubbing on anything or it could be the flywheel theres numbers of things to check over for the grinding noise

Rubbing noise from front axel area
There are several things that could be causing this noise to come from your front wheel well. You could have a faulty wheel bearing, a brake could be dragging, or a hub is rubbing.
A bad tire weight can cause a rubbing noise on full left lock on your Honda Civic 1997. A bubble on the tire can also cause this.
Are the tires actually rubbing or do you just hear a noise? If they are rubbing you have a serious front end problem. If you are just hearing a noise it could be that your front brake pads are worn out. There is a little metal pad built onto the brake pads that rub when the pads are worn out, telling you that it is time to have them attended to.
The noise you hear is the air that is being pushed when the insect flap its wings.
