Rabbits can be taught, re-taught to use a litter box, rabbits normally use one corner of their hutch/cage to poo in, if you get a litter box, and put some saw dust ectra in it, then get plenty of the rabbits poo and put it in the litter tray in the corner that the rabbit poos in, the rabbit should start to use the litter box and after a few weeks of the rabbit using the tray you should be able to move the litter tray to where you want and the rabbit will continue to use it.

My 6 month old rabbit has recently forgot how to use his litter box what up with that?

Puberty. When a male rabbit reaches 6 months and is not neutered his hormones will be at their peak. The reason a rabbit will then start marking with urine is territorial. Neutering should help to fix this problem. If he has learned to use a litter box successfully before once the hormones have gone he will revert back to this normally.

Where is the best place to let your rabbit use the bathroom?

In the litter box.Give your bunny a litter box. It can be a cat's litter box. Put it in the bunny's cage. If the bunny already uses a particular spot, put it there.(If your rabbit's cage is too small for a litter box, then it's too small anyway and you should look for something bigger. Rabbits need to stretch and hop! There are lots of cages in pet stores that are too small, so you have to be a smart consumer.)You might want a second litter box for out in the room, if the rabbit has a spot out in the room that she likes to use, too.Put hay in the bunny's litter box(es). Rabbits like to graze, so it makes them feel comfortable. It encourages litter box use, and hay eating, both good things!Keep the box clean. Scoop out soiled litter often (daily or so); completely replace the litter regularly (monthly or so); and wash the box out as needed (at least once a year, or more often if the bottom is soiled). If it smells, it needs cleaning. Rabbits are clean animals and don't smell, if you keep things clean (and if they're healthy).Don't use cat litter (clay-based). It is very bad for a rabbit's respiration, and if the bunny eats any it can lead to deadly illness. Don't use wheat or corn-based litterseither, because they're very unhealthy (high in starch). It's common for rabbits to nibble when they use the bathroom, so any litter material should be safe to eat. Safe options include:Store brands: Carefresh, Yesterday's News, BoxoNewspaperHay or strawAspen wood chips/shavings - many experts say not to use cedar or pine, because they may be toxicWood stove pellets - often available in hardware stores - make sure you get the plain kind, not the kind with accelerant or other chemicals on them

What does it mean when a cat poops outside the litter box?

Outdoor cats usually relieve themselves in a substance they can use to bury their waste. Such as sand, bark, etc.

How do you train your cat to stop using the litter tray?

How odd. Most people want to train their cats to use the litter tray, not to train them to stop using it. If you don't want your cat to use the litter tray, that's easy; remove the tray. If the tray is not there, the cat cannot use it. Move the litter tray outdoors to get your cat used to going outside and then, eventually, remove the litter tray completely.

What can one do with automatic cat litter boxes?

You can put cat litter in the litter box and allow your cat(s) and/or kitten(s) to use the litter box as their own personal toilet. Just don't forget to change the litter frequently or it will start to smell!

How do you train a rabbit to go to the toilet?

Rabbits can be trained to use a litter box like cats, and you can use the same kind of litter box for both animals but you can't use the same kind of litter material. Cats use clay litters, and sometimes wheat litters, but these are both dangerous for rabbits. Rabbits must use a safe litter material like Carefresh, Yesterday's News, Boxo, etc. Many rabbits litter train easily: just give them a litter box and they will use it. Putting hay in the litter box encourages them to use it. Putting the litter box in an area where they already go to the toilet will also encourage them to use it. If your rabbit doesn't take to the litter box that easily, read the information on the website linked below for more ideas. If your rabbit is dribbling urine all over the place, that's a sign of illness and the rabbit should see a vet. See the related questions/links below for more information.

Can a rabbit litter box be a cardboard box?

You cannot use a cardboard box that is a full square with a hole in it. That is more commonly used for a little playhouse/privacy for your rabbit. You can use a lid of a cardboard box, but shorten it for the size of your rabbit's size. Place a small wooden block for your rabbit to gnaw on, as he/she might nibble the cardboard ( so the block is distracting the rabbit. ). Be sure to put some rabbit treats in the litter box (if it is the rabbits first time using one) so he/she makes it an often place to use. I have a rabbit myself X) ! Sorry if i went on.

How do you teach a rabbit to use the litter box while sharing with another rabbit?

You may not be able to get your rabbits to share a litter box. Try training it the same way you did the other rabbit. It is against their nature to potty in the same area. They establish their territory by going to the bathroom in specific places.

Are there any people who can come to your house and train your rabbit?

I assume by training you mean litter box training. Rabbits are not like dogs and usually will not want to learn tricks. They are more like cats in that they usually do whatever they want. Hiring someone to train a rabbit to use the litter box is not advised. Rabbits need constant reinforcement and guidance to use the litter box properly and only its owner can provide this.

What can you train a miniature baby rabbit?

You can train rabbit to use the litter box. First, make the bedding and litter a different material. Example: I use corncob litter which is gravelly and rough and for bedding I use newspaper which is softer. Next, put the litter box in the corner. (Rabbits are tidy animals and prefer to use the toilet somewhere else). Also, you can train your rabbit to come when you call his name. First, call his name when your near him. Next, when it is all quiet and your rabbit is about 5 feet away, call his name. If he comes, give him a treat and say praising words. Practice this multiple times until he does it all the time!

Can a rabbit chew on a litter box?

It's not very healthy for them, and it can be dangerous. It can make your rabbit very sick, depending on what the box is made of. Rabbits like to chew while they use the toilet. Put hay in your rabbit's litter box so he has something to nibble on. That way, he'll eat more hay (always a good thing), and he won't chew on the box anymore. See the related questions below for more info, and links.

How do you litter train your rabbit?

Rabbits usually use the same corner to go to the bathroom. You should first observe which corner this is. Then put a litter material (newspaper, small animal litter, non-clumping kitty litter, or something similar) in the litterbox. Using fancy litters with chlorophyll crystals etc. may encourage the rabbit to eat the litter, so you should avoid those types of litter. Each time the rabbit goes in the box, you should give it a small treat (a very small piece of fruit or vegetable). This will teach the rabbit that going to the bathroom in the litter box is a good thing. You should also be sure to keep the litterbox emptied, or the rabbit will not want to go in it anymore. Eventually, the rabbit will learn that the litterbox is its friend. Some rabbits will learn it quickly; others never will. The key is to stay diligent in cleaning the litterbox and rewarding the rabbit.

Do rabbits have an uncontrollable bladder?

Do bunnies pee outside their cages?

The litter box should be inside the rabbit's cage. The rabbit should have access to the litter box at all times, otherwise he (or she) will never properly litter train and will soil his cage. You might want to put additional litter boxes outside the cage, for when he's allowed out. This is an especially good idea if your rabbit's allowed out in more than one room, or if you're in the process of litter training. However, always leave the main litter box inside the cage, in case your rabbit wants to run back there and use it.Many rabbit cages sold in stores are too small. The cage should fit the litter box and all other necessary supplies, and still leave enough room for your bunny to move around and stretch out.Make sure you use a safe litter material in the rabbit's box. Cat litter (clay litter) is dangerous for rabbits. Corn and wheat-based litters are not recommended, either, because if your bunny eats any of it (which is likely), it's unhealthy and can lead to illness. Safe litters include:Aspen wood chips or shavings; most sources say NOT to use pine or cedar, because these may be toxic to rabbitsCarefresh (store brand)Yesterday's news (store brand)Boxo (store brand)NewspaperStraw and/or hayWood stove pellets - make sure not to use the kind that includes accelerant or any other chemicals: just plain pellets!Put some hay in your rabbit's litter box. This will encourage good litter habits, because rabbits like to nibble as they use the washroom.See the related questions below for more info about rabbit care.
