Even short haired cats can leave a trail of hair flying all over the place, but I've never had it in my food. The cat should never be on your kitchen table or any counters and they can be trained not too. There isn't much you can do if you're not home, but be sure you wash down the counters and the kitchen table before preparing or eating food. Something I just found out recently is when cats get excited or are frightened their hair flies loose like a porcupine would let their quills fly! I was very surprised at this. Sometimes my dogs will chase our cat Molly (they are pals) and are just playing around (sometimes Molly starts it) and I guess the fun of the chase is enough to send her hair flying. There are special brushes for cats so purchase one and groom your cat every night while watching TV. Generally cats will groom themselves (some more than others, but they can't groom their backs and that seems to be where most of the hair comes from.
To prevent cats from catching birds, keep your cat indoors or supervise outdoor play. Consider using catios or outdoor enclosures to allow your cat outside safely. Additionally, using bells on your cat's collar can help alert birds of their presence.

Put a bell on it. Then the animals will know to run away as something is close. Alternatively, keep the cat indoors.
it is a natural instinct that all cats have that comes from their ancesters surviving in the wild just like catching birds mice and small animals
Put a bell on their collar if they have one, but remember it's their natural behaviour so don't be too hard on them. Put a bell on their collar if they have one, but remember it's their natural behaviour so don't be too hard on them.

Depending on the cat's personality, then yes, it is possible for a cat to be scared of large birds. I have known of a cat to be chased away by a single crow. Some birds are naturally feisty or fearless, so will scare a cat away.
Aquatic birds
Cats do occasionally eat birds.
