How do you stop a cat from catching birds?

Even short haired cats can leave a trail of hair flying all over the place, but I've never had it in my food. The cat should never be on your kitchen table or any counters and they can be trained not too. There isn't much you can do if you're not home, but be sure you wash down the counters and the kitchen table before preparing or eating food. Something I just found out recently is when cats get excited or are frightened their hair flies loose like a porcupine would let their quills fly! I was very surprised at this. Sometimes my dogs will chase our cat Molly (they are pals) and are just playing around (sometimes Molly starts it) and I guess the fun of the chase is enough to send her hair flying. There are special brushes for cats so purchase one and groom your cat every night while watching TV. Generally cats will groom themselves (some more than others, but they can't groom their backs and that seems to be where most of the hair comes from.

Don't get a collar with a bell on it. This will not alert the birds to the cats presence because the cat will simply learn to walk without making the bell ring.

If you have a small crate or something similiar, put your kitten in the crate for 2-4 minutes everytime it jumps on the table, eats food from the table, etc. Everytime you let your kitten out of the crate and it doesn't jump on the table, give it a treat or something it likes, so the crate isn't a place your kitten will hate or be afraid of. If you don't have a crate you can put it in a small room such as a laundry room or etc.
