To get your hamster to stop biting you try wash your hand with soap and water to get the smell of food off your hands then rub your hands in its bedding that it has in his/her cage and slowly reach towards your hamster if it looks like it wants to bite you pull away SLOWLY!!!! not fast it will scare it if that doesn't work, talk to it softly and hand feed it treats . after you do these your hamster should not bite you anymore
First always wash your hands so it won`t smell food on you. Then hold it as much as you can,the more you hold it the less it will bite.

This is what i read about... All you have to do is rub your hands in the stuff your using in the cage i.e. sawdust... This makes the hamster think its like its own cage and wont hurt it... It works for me!!!

Allow him to smell you and calmly approach him. Do not simply grab him. You can even let him go slowly up into your hand if you have some food.

You have to stick your hand in the cage and let your hamster get used to it. When he/she doesnt do anything scoop him/her out of the cage and if he/she bites you repeat.

Your hamster may bite you because it is scared. Young hamsters are very sensitive. It is also how you approach them, or hold them.

How does a hamster protect itself?

By biting and scratching. Most likely they would run away. I had a hamster a few years ago, they have sharp teeth and mine had claws, so they can bite and scratch, they also hide and/ or play dead Hamsters protect themselves by biting or hiding. usually biting. Biting. or peeing if scared, or mouthing (not actually leaving a mark) to tell you it wants you to put it down. Hamster bite. In the wild, many types of hamster empty their cheek pouches of seeds and whatever they've hoarded to distract their predator's, which are mainly birds of prey, the bird stops to eat the seeds while the hamster makes its great escape.

How do you stop your hamster from biting you?

You can do several things to stop your hamster from biting you. - Speak to it softly and use its name whenever you see it or are in contact with it. -If you are wearing a t-shirt, for example, put the hamster on the sleeve while holding your arm out. That way, it has time to sniff and get used to you and it can go onto your arm if it wishes. -Wash your hands. If you have just been eating, then the hamster will detect food and therefore bite you. -If you are sweating, then there is an increased chance of it biting you. The hamster can detect sweat and if it senses you are nervous, it will get confused and nervous too. So wash your hands more. -Try not to wear gloves, as it will never get used to you. -Dont pick it up straight from the cage, as it will get alarmed! I recommend inserting a small box into the cage, and getting your hamster to go in it. Then GENTLY tipping the box onto your lap. Another way to pick it up is to put a toilet paper roll or some type of roll into the cage. The hamster will most likely go into the roll, but if not then gently coop it up and carry it into a carpeted and quiet room. then, you can speak gently and try to hold the hamster. Repeat this method for a while and eventually the hamster will become hand-tame. CAUTION: when you are moving the roll you have to be VERY steady.

Your hamster keeps biting what shall you do?

Well how long have you had it? Maybe: 1. You need to play/train with your hamster some more. 2. Or it maybe just doesn't like you.
