The bug you are referring to is likely a water strider. Water striders have long, thin legs that help them walk on the surface of the water due to their water repellent bodies, which enable them to move quickly and capture prey.
The shield bug's lifespan is highly dependent on variables such as weather and giant human fingers. They can live days or weeks. They can even live for months if the circumstances are fitting.

One effective homemade stink bug killer recipe is a mixture of water and dish soap in a spray bottle. Simply mix water and a few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle, then spray directly on stink bugs to kill them. This solution works by suffocating the bugs.
