While you can leave your hamster without food or water for a recommended amount of 3 or 4 days max, you can leave him alone for up to a week, if you provide the proper amount of food and water. It's best, though, if you can have someone take care of your hamster for you or at least check in on him once or twice.
also don't recommend it. Even though you can very easily load up on supplies, there is a chance something may go wrong, like if he falls of a ramp for example and needs vet care immediately. And if no one is there, he may die. Of if you get held up for an extra few days for whatever reason. However, this is just a precaution. The chances of anything like that happening are quite slim. They are still there, so do not take this lightly. If you come back to find something happened to him, it will be your own fault. But, once again, chances are very slim.
For food, give aproximately 5 times you normally give in a day. If you are feeding pellets, this is especially easy because he stores them anyway. If you have seeds, add a second bowl, shallow enough for him to eat out of comfortably, to put more in. Obvioulsy, do not leave any fruits, veggies and anything as it will need to be removed after only a few hours, or will go moldy.
For water, be sure to fill the bottle completely. You probably can estimate how long it takes for his one bottle to empty, and if it's more than 5 days, run out to a store to get him a new, much larger one, on top of his current one.
Before you leave, clean out the cage completely.
If you want to be safe, find someone to take him. Like someone suggested, you can try pet stores, shelters, neightbours, family members, and classifieds for private or public pet sitters. These can all be either free of expensive. Use your own judgment. It wouldn't be a good idea to give him to someone who never had experience with hamsters, for example.
I should add that unless your hamster has an accident that would result in death, it most certainly will not die. Even if you left the cage dirty, and didn't leave enough food, he would survive for 5 days. Water is essential, though, but after 5 days, at worst he will be severly dehydrated and lethargic, but not dead. So not TOO much to worry about, but prepare everything anyways
2-3 days at most. Your little friend needs fresh water everyday and replaced food about every other day. Because rodents "use the bathroom" all in their terrarium/cage, living on their own without cage matinance can result in not so great things. If leaving a hamster for a day or two past 2-3 days does not kill him/her, it is risky and unhealthy for you little friend.
Yes, you can leave a hamster alone for a weekend. I have left my hamster alone for up to a week. Obviously, you can't just leave them as is, you need to make sure they have enough food and water for the amount of time you are gone. You should do these things before you leave: * Make sure the hamster(s) cage is clean before you leave. * You should know how much water your hamster drinks in a few days, so leave him at least that much water. I recommend completely filling the bottle up with clean water on the day you leave even if he will not drink that much in the time you're gone. * Make sure to fill his food bowl up. Make sure he has enough food for however long you are gone. If you will be gone longer and think he won't have enough food, buy a hamster food log. They are inexpensive, provide more food for extended stays, and my hamster loves them. * Make sure his cage is out of direct sunlight while you're gone. If you do all of that, he should be fine!
When you get a new hamster, make sure to set up its cage with bedding, food, water, and a wheel for exercise. Provide plenty of hiding spots and toys for enrichment. Allow your hamster time to adjust to its new environment by limiting handling initially and gradually building trust through gentle interactions and feeding treats. Regularly clean the cage and monitor your hamster's health and behavior.
Yes, well, in the first few week the cat will look at the hamster watch it and put it's paws on the cage. After about 2 week the cat will get Bord and leave it alone still don't leave the cat alone with the if the hamster is out of the cage. what i would do is put the hamster cage where the cage will be with every thing in it so that's its ready for a hamster at any time and just leave the cage there for 2- 4 weeks so that the dig change which is putting the cage in. so now that the cat is used to it so when you put the hamster in its a little change and it will not be to dramatic so the cat will be fine and just maybe a little excited.
It's best to wait until your hamster is comfortable in its new environment, which can take a few days to a week. Once your hamster seems relaxed and not easily startled, you can start by offering treats near the cage to gauge its reaction before attempting to handle it outside of the cage.
well if you are interested in breeding hamsters. I herd that you should leave a boy hamster in the cage with the girl hamster for 2 week then take him out then she should have them in 30 days or less. :)
because it doesn't have any friend to play and when you leave your hamster in the cage for a long time too.

ekk! always leave water in the cage for your hamster. if your hamster cant drink water for about a day and a half its going 2 b dehydrated. your hamster would most likely die.

It might be from being in their cage too long. Just take the hamster out for awhile and clean the cage and if it doesn't improve take it to the vet.
You need to be more specific with your question. Are you asking how long you can leave your hamster while you go away for a few days? Or, are you asking how long can a hamster live alone as the only hamster? If you are concerned about your hamster possibly becoming lonely for another hamster, don't worry, because they are naturally solitary animals. Normally, they are only together to mate or if a mother is taking care of her young pups.

I'm a breeder so it depends. Is he/she sick or injured? If so leave it out. If not a wheel MUST always be in their cage
