no, its not smart to. 9 times out of 10 they will eat there babies. When I worked at petsmart, we would divide the cage with a glass "divider" plastic can be chewed through. The mother was only placed with the babies when it was time to "feed" and someone was there watching the entire time.
They will drink milk from their mom till the are 3-4 weeks and then when they are 3-4 weeks they can leave her!

Hamsters are originally from South America After doing a report with my 2nd grade daughter we learned that it depends on the breed, but the come mostly from Asia. In particular Russia, China, Turkey and a lot of mention of Syria. The first domesticated hamsters were Syrian hamsters.
the hamster should be at least 4-5 weeks old and if your confuzed on how much to sell your hamsters for you should sell the girls, sence they can have babies, for at least $15. and the boys, sence they cant have babies, for about $13. well have fun, lilypad617

A mother hamster has multiple teats on her underbelly. The baby hamsters will latch on to these teats and feed on the mother's milk. After a few weeks the babies will start to eat regular hamster food.

Leave the bird alone. The mum is looking after it.
Put some milk into a medicine dropper and slowly put some in the hamsters mouth. Hopes this helps.
