6-8 weeks old-be sure to add a small amount of water to soften the food until you puppy gets use to eating hard food.below is from: www.dogbreedinfo.com/feeding Feed your puppy 3-4 times a day. Puppies have different nutritional needs than adult dogs. Choose a puppy food that provides the appropriate balance of nutrients your puppy needs. Be sure they are getting the right amount of protein and calcium, and the proper amount of calories. Check the label to determine if you are feeding your puppy a balanced diet. Meat should be the first ingredient on the label.
If the dog is a smaller breed, like a chihuahua, you should feed it puppy food until it is about 8 or 9 months old, but if it is a larger breed, like a whippet, you should feed it puppy food until it is about 1 year and a half old. When you do make the switch between puppy food and adult food, you should mix half the amount of puppy food you normally feed it with half the amount of adult food you are going to feed it together, then put in a bit of chicken or rice to make it easier for your dogs system to get used to. If you do not introduce the switch in a subtle way (by adding chicken or rice) your dog's stomach will not get used to it and will simply give it back. (which could be a bit messy!!) Hope this helped ! :-)
my dog had a puppy and hasn't had a second one yet so how long does it take for A SECOND PUPPY TO BE BORN
As long as the pups have teeth they can start on puppy food
A Chihuahua typically gives birth to a puppy within 1-4 hours after the start of labor. If labor lasts longer than 4 hours without a puppy being born, it is recommended to seek veterinary assistance as there may be complications.
A pit bull puppy should ideally stay with its mother for at least 8 weeks. This period is crucial for the puppy's social and behavioral development as it learns important skills from its mother and littermates, such as bite inhibition and appropriate play behavior. Early separation from the mother can lead to behavioral issues and difficulties in socialization.
Either puppy wet food or Puppy dry food it doesn't matter but as long as it say puppy food.
a healthy puppy should eat 1.5 to 2 pounds of food a day including breskfast lunch and dinner so that bag should be done in about a week or 2
If a six week old puppy does not eat for two days maximum you should probably get it to your veterinarian. A puppy of that age does not have a lot of reserve and therefor can not go very long without eating. Puppies are typically ravenous eaters since they are growing so quickly. If one is not eating for very long is is likely a sign that there is a problem.
By 3 to 4 weeks you can start soaking puppy food in warm water fluffing with a fork by 5 to 6 weeks they should have teeth to eat dry food.
Some scrambled egg or some non-sugar porrige. Puppies should be gradually weaned onto a QUALITY puppy food that has at least 28% protein and 17% fat. They should be kept on this puppy food up until they are 6 months old and then gradually weaned onto a QUALITY adult dog food that has 18% protein and 9-15% fat. Leaving a puppy on puppy food too long can cause rapid growth which can lead to joint problems.
You are better sticking with a puppy food formula as it is specially formulated for growing puppies. This can be wet or dry puppy food known ad Kibble. Water can be added to kibble to make it into a porridge mix which younger puppies prefer or a mixture of both. more information at allthingspuppy.co.uk/post/best-puppy-food-2021
Check with your puppy's Veterinarian about how far/long your puppy should be allowed to run.
Your dog will produce milk as long as there is a demand put on her by the puppies. The pups should stay with their Mom 8 weeks but should be weaned at around 3-4 weeks of age. You should introduce softened dry puppy food mixed with canned milk (diluted 1 part water to 1 part canned milk). Do not feed regular cow's milk as will cause diarrhea. You can stop adding the canned milk at about 4 weeks and just feed the softened mushy dry puppy food soaked in warm water and then feed it drier as the pups age. By 5-6 weeks they should be crunching on dry puppy food. Mom needs to not be nursing them at all, so her milk will dry up. Note: Mom dog should be fed a good name brand puppy food while nursing her pups and pups should be put on the same good name brand dry puppy food too. Don't feed cheap generic dry puppy food.
Less than 2 hours for a young puppy days for an older puppy.
You should have had your puppy in to the vets long before now! Get there right away!
Just keep his dish full, as long as they get plenty of exercise, growing puppies should be allowed to eat as much as they want. Controlling food portions may be important with adult dogs to avoid obesity, but it is much less of a concern for puppies.
A 9 month old Border Collie puppy should have about a half a cup of food a day. So, you could either put a forth of a cup in the morning and night, or a half cup once a day. It doesn't really matter.
