There are six extant species. The Indo Chinese tiger has proven to be two subspecies. The newest is the somewhat smaller Malayan tiger, inhabiting the Malayan islands.
There are 6 living subspecies of tigers left living today

There are 7 extinct Subspecies all of which have been wiped out entirely by humans.

There is also a mixed breed called a liger, half tiger half lion. They are very rare in the wild. I did a project for tigers in school. there are only 6 breeds left):
