Depends on the weight. But in most cases, the minimum is 4 gallons [sorry, don't know much about liters], average is 6 gallons, and maximum is eight gallons.

It depends on the horse. Average sized horses have approximately 34 litres. Smaller horses (ponies) have approximately 20 litres.

A horse should drink a minimum of 0.5 to 1 gallon of water per 100 pounds of body weight. So 5 to 10 gallons for a 1,000 pound horse is the bare minimum.
