usually there are about 3-5 but sadly if your cat has its first litter the cats don't survive, but if they have a second batch it seems only 1-2 kittens survive.

Why do cats stop using litter box?

The litter box may not be clean enough for the cat or the cat feels uncomfortable in the litter box; a litter box should be cleaned every day or every second day, depending on how many cats you have. Maybe the cat does not know where the litter box is, if you move the litter box and don't show the cat its new location the cat won't know where the box is. The cat also mightn't be trained to use a litter box properly and might need a little help using it. Also, if a cat is very old, they mightn't realise they have to use the litter box or they do not have time to get to the litter box before they urinate etc. . The cat could also be sick.if your cat is just a kitten then the box might be too clean the kitten must smell where the toilet is.

How much work is a cat?

If you mean how much effort you need to put into taking care of one on a daily basis, then not much. Cats are naturally hygenic and can go to the bathroom by themselves, so there is no mess. All they need is a litter box, in which they do their business in, bury it in litter, and they are done. You just need to change the litter every so often. They also need fresh food and water in clean bowls each day. In addition, cats need to maintence their nails by scratching. So you might need to buy a scratching post if your cat is residing indoors.

How many times a day do you have to change a cats litter box?

Every other day. ......... Most recommendations are to clean (scoop) a cat's litter box daily. You wouldn't want to use an un-flushed toilet tomorrow, would you? Changing of the entire litter in the box will be listed on the package by the manufacturer. Some litters are more absorbent, like the non-clumping kind, and will need to be changed entirely more frequently. With clumping litter, you should be able to just add some fresh litter every few days for about a month before cleaning out the entire box.

How do you train your cat to stop using the litter tray?

How odd. Most people want to train their cats to use the litter tray, not to train them to stop using it. If you don't want your cat to use the litter tray, that's easy; remove the tray. If the tray is not there, the cat cannot use it. Move the litter tray outdoors to get your cat used to going outside and then, eventually, remove the litter tray completely.

Cat eating cat litter Is this harmful?

Cats that eat cat litter is not healthy. it does not make them anything but sick and could kill them. what you need to do is keep him from eating it the best you can. Cat litter has chemicals in it that are toxic to cats. Also the clumping litter can clog the intestines and cause infection or death. Some cats eat cat litter because they are curious or they may have anemia...which could be caused by leukemia, kidney disease, chromic renal failure, or immundodeficency. If your cat is eating cat litter, take him/her to the vet. Change the cat litter to natural stuff, like pine, paper, corn or wheat...easier to pass through the system. Also even if your cat doesnt eat litter, they still get dust on their paws...and when they clean themselves, they get it in their systems. So change anyways

Do you have to clean a cats litter box every day?

It depends on: how many cats you own, and the number of litter boxes you own. The pet stores and adoption centers advise you to have one box for each cat, plus one more. You need to clean them every 3-5 days depending on the circumstances listed above. Answer I have two cats, who willingly share one box. I use scoop away and so clear the clumps every 2-3 days, adding litter as needed. You definitely need a litter with good odor control and willing cats!

How do cats know to use a litter box?

Cats instinctively try to bury their waste, but they need to learn where is an appropriate place to use to bury it. Once they have learned that a litter box is available and is appropriate, that is what they will use. When I was a kid back in the 1960s litter boxes and litter did not exist. We used a small wooden crate filled with black top soil. The cats learned to use this. It was nowhere near as convenient for us as modern litter is, but the cats had no more trouble digging in this top soil and burying their wastes than they do with modern litter today.

Why do you need 2 litter boxes for 1 cat?

I think you are supposed to have 1 litterbox per cat plus 1 extra. I have 4 cats, so I have 5 boxes. This way if some of the cats don't get along they always have a box they can go to. I'd rather have extra boxes than have them go on the floor.

Should litter boxes be lined with plastic before use?

Litter boxes do not necessarily need to be lined with plastic before use. Some cats may prefer a liner, while others may shred or puncture it. It is a personal preference, so you can try using a liner to see if it works well for you and your cat. Just make sure to keep the litter box clean and scoop daily to prevent odors and maintain hygiene.

Can cats be toilet trained?

My sister has 4 female cats - 2 prefer the litter box which is next to the toilet and the other 2 prefer the toilet. She didn't do anything other than leave the seat up all the time as was her habit, and was pretty surprised when she figured out what was going on (she's the only human in the house, and was pretty sure she was flushing consistently) :-D. Also, my cousin's cat started using the toilet when the basement door leading to her litter box was accidentally left closed for a prolonged period of time. So, I don't know how to train them to use the toilet, but I think it's possible. Don't know if it's significant that these are all females, and surprisingly, all 3 of the cats with toilet preferences were over age 9 when they started! cats can't be "toilet trained" but they can be litter trained.

Are cats clean animals?

No, cats are very clean about their bodies. Most cats bathe (lick) their fur every day, several times a day. The main unclean thing about cats is their litter boxes, and that they walk in the litter box. Tracking litter through the house is annoying.

How much cat litter to buy for a month?

It depends on whether your cat is allowed outdoors, how many you have, and on the type of litter. For two strictly-indoor cats, using Max Scoop, I generally find that two 7Kg (15-lb) buckets will last six weeks. Cats that are allowed outside will urinate outside, which makes the amount of litter they need a lot less. A single cat will use somewhat less than half the amount of a pair of cats. You will need about the same volume (which is less weight) of wood-pulp based litter such as the flushable types or Yesterdays News.
