Well I was looking for a logical answer to this question myself, but since I'm here, I'll tell my story. My pug had 2 puppies Friday night around 6pm, both healthy. Then, Sunday morning, 36hrs later, she had 2 more. Both alive and doing well. So I guess the answer to this question is YES it's possible!!
To the person with the Pugs:
When your Pug had puppies 36 hours apart, how was she acting with the first 2 puppies during that 36 hour period? Our girl has two out and more in her, in fact another is definitely in the birth canal, but she's "not interested". She's still not feeding them. We've given her oral calcium and there's still no contractions, or interest, for that matter. Was yours like this can you describe her dispositon during this delivery?
Most commonly, most twin calves are born seconds to minutes apart. Rarely they are born days or even months apart.
When birthing, there can be long periods between puppies. If there has been more than an hour between pups, there may be a problem. If this is the case, make sure the mother dog does not act like she is in stress. Look for labored breathing, cant lay still, things like that. If she shows these symptoms, please call a vet. You also can gently press on her abdomen to feel for any pups that may(or may not) remain.
Puppies are typically born in a mother dog's womb, where they develop before being born through the process of childbirth. Puppies are the offspring of two parent dogs that have mated and produced a litter of puppies.

For the most part, no - newborn puppies mostly sleep and and nurse for the first two weeks.
Yorkie puppies typically are born in intervals of 15 to 30 minutes, although the timing can vary. The total duration of the birthing process can last several hours, depending on the size of the litter and the mother’s health. It's important for the mother to have a calm environment during this time to facilitate the delivery. If there are prolonged intervals between puppies or signs of distress, veterinary assistance should be sought.
