The question is awkwardly worded. Cows are sold per pound or by the pound at an auction, but are not sold a pound at a time. A cow does not weigh one pound, they weigh a lot heavier than that. Beef does, however, so that may be what you're referring to.

Even so, price of a cow on a per pound basis or how much a pound of beef costs really depends a lot on location, type, and a host of other things.
