The question is awkwardly worded. Cows are sold per pound or by the pound at an auction, but are not sold a pound at a time. A cow does not weigh one pound, they weigh a lot heavier than that. Beef does, however, so that may be what you're referring to.

Even so, price of a cow on a per pound basis or how much a pound of beef costs really depends a lot on location, type, and a host of other things.

It depends on what cow you are going to buy, her health, age and whether she's a crossbred or a registered purebred or fullblood cow. It also depends on where you buy her: prices depend on where you live. So I'm not even going to bother giving you an exact price. But on average, a commercial 6 year old bred cow can cost an average of $1000.

One cow can cost you an average of around $1200, but that all depends on your local salebarn's current prices for either a replacement or breeding stock type of cow, or a slaughter cow.
