As a rule of thumb , the more room your chickens have then happier and more healthier they will be.

Another factor to consider is the actual size of the bird. For example Bantams, which are smaller, don't need as much space, as say a larger breed of chicken.

Another factor to keep in mind is the age of the bird - with younger birds being smaller in size and therefore not taking up as much space.

After all that here is your answer:

Large birds - fully mature - we recommend no less than 4 square feet , per bird.

Smaller birds (e.g Bantams) - we recommend no less than 2 square feet , per bird

Side note: 1 foot = just over 30 cm
