How old are chickens when they lay eggs?

only one of my hens have layed one egg

chickens generably start to lay eggs at 18-20 weeks of age but i have an abnormal one that is laying at 15 months not regularly. some can take up to 6 months or more.

Chickens can begin to lay eggs when they are between 4 and 5 months old. Only the hens, which are the females, can lay eggs.
This will vary depending on the breed of chicken. With specialist layer breeds it can be at about 20 weeks, but with pure breeds the time will be longer; possibly 6 months.
Most breeds start at about 5 or 6 months old. As with all general questions about chickens it can vary depending on the breed or crossbreed you own. With over 200 recognized breeds and hundreds of cross breeds it is hard to be exact.
Some breeds can start to lay as early as 5 months old but most start about 6 to 8 months old. Be patient as all breeds differ. Start to feed them layer pellets or layer feed at about 4 months to help build their nutrition up in preparation for that first egg.

Around 4 years of age hens tend to start laying less, age 5 and 6 there are some eggs, also at age 6 they are now considered an old lady, age 8-12 their at the age of retirement and eggs are rare, at age 15 exceptional but it happens chickens become that age and need extra warmth.
