The term "dog years" relates to the fact that dogs grow, mature, and die, faster than humans. It refers to the stage of growth that they are at at a certain age compared to when a human would reach that stage of growth. The speed of growth is roughly 7x faster than that of a human, so if a dog grew to 16 it would be the same as a human being roughly 112. There is no such amount of time as a "dog year" because a "year" relates to the rotation of the earth around the sun, so the only reason a "dog year" would be a valid time frame would be if there was a planet called "dog" with a different length year to ours because of it's position in the solar system. So, basically YOU CANNOT HAVE AN AGE IN "DOG YEARS" UNLESS YOU ARE A DOG.
