Bigger dogs need to wait till the age of 3, 2 1/2(minimum) it is healthy for any breed and size of dog to wait till the 2nd season/heat before breeding(having pups on the first heat can/will kill mother and pups) Please don't class your dog as a 'small' breed if it is any bigger then a Springer Spaniel, Staffie, (small)border collie or (small)Pittbull. If your dog is small but 'big-bonned' I:e Shar Pei, Staff, Pittbull Terrier, Bulldog, then it is good to wait until about 2 and a bit (about 2-3 months after turning 2)
