All rabbits are gregarious and like company. But never add a new rabbit into the existing rabbit's cage as they are very territorial and yours will attack the new one severely. Place the new rabbit in a cage/pen adjacent to your rabbit so they can smell each other and get used to each other. After a few days when they are aware of each other, swap their cages, without cleaning them out first, so they are each going into the other's territory with all the scents of the other still in place in the cage. Keep swapping daily for a few days. After a few days ofalternating cages, place both of them together in a completely neutral place - i.e. not the home of either of them - with distractions - eg. nice grub, and supervise how they behave together. Carry on in this way until you are confident that they have bonded. It may take up to 10 days or so from the time you get the new bunny. If you are intending to introduce a male for the purposes of breeding, this will take less time as his mere presence will bring the doe into season and she will be receptive to him, but it still holds true that she will attack him if you just put him into her territory as soon as you get him.

Is cottontail rabbit an escaped domestic rabbit?

No. A Cottontail rabbit is not a rabbit at all. It is a Hare, a cousin to our Domestic rabbits. In-fact if you put a female Hare in a Male rabbits cage, or visa versa they can't breed. They look they same but they are not the same thing.

How do you breed a rabbit?

To breed a rabbit take the female rabbit to the males cage never to the females cage. Once you have put them in the cage leave them there over night. After that in the morning take the rabbit out for 1 to 12 hours and then put them back in . Hope this helps if not send me an email at modlin.riley@gmail.com

What is the act of mating in rabbits called?

first you have to put the female rabbit in the males cage (because if you put the male rabbit in the females cage the male will not mate because he will be too busy sniffing around the cage) and then you leave her in there overnight so they will mate they will mate when it is quiet so you will want to leave the room and then after they mate the female will have babies within 28-31 days after some helpful sites www.arba.net-www.petcaretips.net

Will a female rabbit kill a desexed male rabbit if another male rabbit is around not in the same cage with the female and desexed male?

One Opinion: Yes! If you plan on introducing a new rabbit to your female, please respect the principles of bonding (i.e. putting their cages near, then letting one bunny at a time out to scent the other one, etc.; there are many websites that describes the process in length). If you do not do so, they can attack each other and seriously hurt or maim each other. The sex of your rabbit has no importance in this matter.Another Opinion: I am a rabbit breeder and have found there are zero issues but only IF the female is placed in the males cage for mating females are very territorial of there space.

Why does your rabbit bang the cage?

My rabbit used to always do this if we left her in her inside cage for too long. I just assumed it was to get our attention and let us know she wasn't happy.

When you put your male rabbit in with a female rabbit they mate but why when i put him in with a another certain female does she start jumping on him and not the other way round is she pregnant?

Rabbits are territorial and when you put a male in a female's cage, it is her space. Therefore it's better to put the doe in the buck's cage.

Should male rabbits be removed from the female rabbit if their is kits?

The male rabbit should never be housed with the female rabbit. He should never be introduced to her habitat. To breed she should be taken to his cage and removed after they are done breeding. The male rabbit should NOT be exposed to the kits.

Would a 7 week old mini lop that I have only had for a few days fight with another young rabbit introduced to it?

They could, it's very possible but it depends on if it's a male or female. If you're putting 2 females in a cage it just depends on their temperament If you're putting 2 males in a cage the chances are that they will fight no matter what. It also depends on if the rabbit that you're putting the new rabbit in with has been isolated by itself for a while. If the rabbits are both young they might not fight hard to tell. As I earlier it really depends on the temperament of the 2 individuals.

Why does your male rabbit have bald patches?

If it is in the cage with other rabbits, male or female, it may be because he is trying to mate with them and they are not happy with it and are bitting to get him away.. if he is alone, he may be very stressed out. double check your cage environment, cage location, and who touches the rabbit. these are all very critical

Is there any way two adult female mice that don't know each other can get along if they are in the same cage?

Yes, female mices can get along once they get used to each other. Introduce the mice outside the cage first and see how they get on. If they don't fight try this: clean the cage you are going to put them in very well (to get all the 'mouse' smell off it) and then put the female mice in the cage together at the same time. As this cage has been cleaned it should be neutral territory and therefore the female mice should not fight. If they do fight you might want to consider houseing them in different cages.
