Craisons ( dried cranberries) are a great substitute and are full of good stuff for your dog. It is NOT healthy for dogs to eat any kind of fruit they like. When in doubt... call your vet and ask or "bing" it. DOGS WILL EAT THINGS THAT ARE BAD FOR THEM!!! Including rubber toys, anti-freeze, etc.
Absolutely not. Some Fruits and Vegetables are very toxic to pets. Please Ask your Vet On the best Fruits and Vegetables to feed your pets.
It may be true that some are very toxic, but it is also true that animals will not eat something dangerous to them, unless they are in the last stages of starvation. This is why I said, any kind of fruit they LIKE. There are even cultures, such as the Hunzas, where the dogs and cats live primarily on fruit, rather than meat-based food. When offered something to eat, dogs know from a good distance whether the smell is right or not for eating. Bananas certainly are very healthy from personal experience with my dogs. So are watermelon, tangerines, avocados, all sorts of berries, and many others.
