It is your only option. That is the only way it can be repaired. With cage rest after surgery it should be good as new. I would recommend using a Veterinarian that has done this type of surgery before or an Orthopedic surgeon.

What do you do about a torn dew claw on your dog?

If your dog has a torn dew claw, it's important to take them to the vet for proper assessment and treatment. The vet may need to trim or remove the dew claw to prevent infection and promote healing. In some cases, they may prescribe pain medication or antibiotics to manage any discomfort or prevent infection.

Why are dogs the most favored housepet?

Dogs are loyal to you and your family and you know the saying, "Man's best friend." It's true! Dogs are the kind of pet who plays alot when you want to play, and when you get tired, they'll probably be tired, too! Dogs are nice creatures! They will not be mad at you if you are a little stern with them. Cats are different. They are lazy and they seem to run away in trees and/or bushes. That's very annoying, so I prefer a dog. And be careful when you get a puppy! They are fragile and you better keep him/her in a cage before he/she starts discovering the house. You can let him/her out only if you like pee, poop, and torn things laying around the house!

Why is hare coursing illegal?

Because it's barbaric and cruel to both the hares and the dogs involved. The hares are often chased until they drop from exhaustion - before being torn to shreds by the pack. The hounds are often simply shot when they get 'too old to chase' !

How much money does a urinary tract surgery for a cat cost?

Unfortunately there is no single answer to this question - you will need to consult with your veterinarian for an estimate. This estimate will be based upon the exact type of urinary surgery (ie, bladder stone removal vs. repairing a torn ureter), the age and health status of your cat (young adult vs. diabetic vs. aged, etc.) and the experience and skill of the veterinarian performing the surgery. In addition, local economic factors will influence the price - a veterinarian in the Midwest generally charges less than a veterinarian on the Coast, for example.

Can a torn patellar tendon heal without surgery?

No, a torn patellar tendon typically requires surgery to fully heal and restore strength and function to the knee joint. Surgery is usually recommended to repair the tendon and allow for proper rehabilitation to optimize recovery. Physical therapy and rehabilitation exercises are often prescribed post-surgery to regain full range of motion and strength in the knee.

I've just been diagnosed that I have a torn ACL and a torn meniscus. Could someone tell me WHY the orthopedic surgeon is recommending physical therapy before the surgery?

If you don't achieve full range of motion before your surgery, the rehab will be much harder post-surgery and it you might not regain full range of motion again. I've torn my acl twice and my surgeon really stressed that I get the swelling down before the surgery. Both times I did that and I never had a problem getting my full range of motion back after the surgery.
