monsoon rains are important for the agricultural uses of the area. farming can supply vast populations because the monsoons bring water and cause flooding that renews the soil. of course, flooding also disrupts man's settlements and causes deaths, so you get a lot of bad with the good.

Monsoon can be a boon if our water management is proper, it is a curse because our water management is highly of poor standard. Some areas perennially suffer from drought and water scarcity whereas some get marooned when it rains. Water harvesting by way of construction of reservoir on mass scale, river networking, digging & modernization of canals, better drainage system etc. are certain measures which need government's urgent attention. If these areas are given due attention, Monsoon could be bountiful as it kills India's scorching heat and helps farmers grow the crops.
