Most aggression in dogs is caused by bad ownership and not neccessarily the breed of dog. People choose big dogs and don't realise how much stimulation and training they require.

Maybe they do, but we have two American Bulldogs, which are cousins to the pit, and I can tell you that once you have seen their true red zone power, you realize there is a difference in being attacked by a dachshund or a pit bull or american bulldog.

We have two American Bulldogs, 100% chunks of pure muscle, that hate each other, and have had two almost to the death terrible fights.

Last week my husband made the mistake of letting one out while the other was out, see we have had to keep them 100% seperated, since the first truly scary fight.

Last week they had a fight that caused terrible injury to my husband and both dogs. My husband tried to seperate them and break them up, and he lost most of his thumb on his right hand, took a bone deep bite on his calf, thigh and wrist, and is lucky to be alive.

You would have had to seen the dogs to beleive their injuries. The bill for just one at the vet is $1,000, and Maggie is still be treated. They both were almost dead, and covered in blood, one is not out of the woods yet.

The scary thing is when they red zone, they DO NOT see you, but look right through you, and will bite you and clamp on. It is frightening, and this fight left our garage soaked in blood, and my husband in the hospital two nights with surgery to his thumb, and tons of anti biotics.

Respect these breeds power. It is there, no matter what. Ours are so loved and socialized, but they still can kill you, if anything ever causes them to red zone. They can kill a child easily. They are wonderful dogs that were bred to fight to the death, and this is what they attempt to do with all their heart, so always love them and let them know you are pack leader with love, and respect their power. Its off the scale.
