You should not keep your guinea pig outside in the winter! They're natural climate is not cold and they cannot handle the cold. Your pig probably has a respiratory infection and she needs to see a vet right away. Please, please keep your guinea pig inside, even if it is just in your warm basement. They cannot handle winter weather. put the f%$# guinea pig inside!

Can guinea pigs sleep outside?

Guinea pigs can stay "outside" as long as they have a hutch of cage that is raised off the ground and may provide shelter for them if it starts to rain, ect. If you are choosing to have a pet guinea pig, It is best to keep them inside if you have the time to clean out their cage 2-3 times a week. If your looking for a low maintence pet, you could always keep them outside. This will affect its behaviour, and I reacently had a guinea pig that died of fright from a snake in our yard. Now I keep all my guinea pigs inside.

Where do bees go to the toilet?

In the winter, they have to do it in the hive because it is too cold to go outside. They then clean everything up when the weather gets warmer. In the summer they do it outside.

Can a guinea pig get too cold and die?

guinea pigs have a very sensitive tempreature range, its cant be too hot because of their fur, and it cant be too cold. the safe range for a guinea pig is 50 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. longer haired guinea pigs about 50- 71 degrees Fahrenheit. now, if your guinea pig for some reason has no fur, keep the temperature at 55-78 degrees.

Can you keep a Guinea pig outside?

Well, most people like to keep their guinea pigs outside but u should only keep ur guinea pig outside for about 2 to 3 minutes. beware: dont leave a guinea pig unsupervised because if u spray ur yard with ANYTHING BESIDES WATER, it could eat the grass and get VERY sick. Guinea pigs also like the fresh air. Whatever you do, don't leave a guinea pig unsupervised outside or anywhere unless you know that it will be safe.

Should you put your guiniea pigs on the grass in the winter?

On personal experience I would say no, but put the hutch in a sheltered area of the garden and perhaps get something to pull over them at night, for example linoleum. Also, put lots of hay in at night as this acts as an insulator

It depends how cold it is. If you can go outside in a short sleeve shirt and not be cold, it is probably OK for your guinea pig. If it's very cold though, don't take the guinea pig out...even in a blanket!

yes but only in the summer as if the guinea pig gets too cold i the winter it will die and by the way you will need a huch not a cage as a cage will get too much wind as it has no private bit or shelter and your guinea pig will get wet !

Does a guinea pig need to live in a warm environment?

No we kept ours in a hutch in the garden but in the winter we covered the hutch doors with sacks to keep the warmth in. You can still keep them in the warm but make sure you make a decision. Don't keep them indoors for winter then put them outside for summer because it may be a shock to them. If they are unwell though bring them inside.
